My 49 Ford Coupe slipped out of my hands the first time I had a chance to get it. Lucky the guy who bought had posted it on Craiglist, and a buddy told me about it. He needed a "family" hot rod, and I traded my 47 Ford Fordor, cash and good running to get that coupe, best trade I ever made. My 62 Mercury Monterey 2 dr hardtop, was on Craigslist also( was on there along time) The kid who owned it , started working at our car dealership. Made a lower offer and , well it's mine. He was tired of trying to sell it and was glad to see go to good home.

Last one I found on Craigslist.

  4. Long story short. Knew what I wanted. Told people. One friend even knows about every car deal to be made in the area. Got word of a few. No good. Called on a craigslist ad. Car was sold but turns out this guys son had an even better car in better shape.

Have your goals set on what you want, be patient, and tell everyone you're on the hunt.

Abandoned in a ditch outside of some guys house. Someone had moved out and left it and never returned for it, and when me and my buddy stopped to ask about it, the guy told us to take it. He even offered to help us get it home since we were right down the road. 61 GMC shortbed with a 235 chevy. Not fancy, but for $0 you can't beat that!

    Hi (1st post in here).

Found mine on carsonline.com Fella out in Cookesvill TN had the '51 I was looking for, told me he was retiring from the business and selling off his cars. The Buick was his wife's daily driver. I flew out on a whim the next morning from TX with cash in hand and drove her 15 hours back home on faith in his word that she was a driver.

  9. I stopped to stretch at a small gas station in western Colorado and noticed a small junk yard behind there. We went to check things out and found my cowl and doors sitting there out in the open. That was some 15 years ago! Finaly started the project and 6 months later started driving it.

When I was 14, my Grandfather called and asked me if I wanted the "Old Fishin' Car", because he was gonna junk it. He knew I was looking for an old car and he figured I would be a good caretaker. I yelled Yes!, and my Dad and I went back to Kansas and towed it home to Colorado that weekend. Boiled out the radiator, patched it up, and it' s been running ever since. My first car, and I still own it, 36 years later. Been through it twice since then, but the original engine is still running...

I found my 48 F1 Pickup on the for sale board at So-Cal Arizona. It was a pretty rough project but its been fun to work on. And there has been stuff to sell that the PO installed that I'm not using. Its moving along slowly, but should pick up speed now that Elpolacko is about finished with the frame work and I get it moved down to the new garage in Tucson.

Classic cars are only those designated as such by the Classic Car Club of America.

The cars we have here are just old cars.

Old cars can be found everywhere and anywhere. Behind houses/sheds/barns/tree lines, etc. In barns/sheds/carports. Along fences in back pastures on farms. In gullies near city dumps. Magazine ads, internet site listings. Word-of-mouth.

Man, the list of ways to find cars is endless. I have searched, been offered, troll the local papers, craig's list, knocked on doors, placed wanted ads, etc..... Never know when or where the next one is coming from but if I'm still tickin' they will keep comin' ;-)

Mine was a fairly old listing on the H.A.M.B. Classifieds... I figured the car had been sold, but I messaged the PO and he said he still had the 57. I bought it at a much reduced price than was listed for.

My grandpa bought mine when I was two from the original owner. He would cusse me out if I got near it. My uncle got it when he passed away. About ten years ago my uncle called my dad and told him he had to sell it. I left that day with a trailer and drove non-stop from Southern California to mid coast Washington solo. Got snowed in comming back. Now it is blown apart due to Washington rust. Gonna start back on it soon though

Our '57 was sitting on blocks 15 miles from our house, we gave $700 for it. This was in 1977. We put tires, gas, and a battery in it and drove it home.

Our '40 belonged to a good friend of ours, he kept saying he was gonna put it on Ebay, I figured he could never actually part with it. Finally I just asked how much he wanted for it and we bought it. Haven't regretted it either, although he has regretted selling it.

I found my deuce in Hemmings. It had been listed for over 6 months. When I asked the guy what was wrong with it he said nothing but, the first thing people asked was, "Is it a v-8?" Nope it is a "B'. Nobody wanted it. This was fall of 1989. Running driving 1932 Tudor Delux sedan. $6700.00.

  25. Was on a 750 mile roadtrip with my dad to see my grandparents. We had just got on the highway and were about a mile down the road when we seen this Morris stting there with a 4 sale sign. We didnt stop, but i thought about it all week. When we got back, first place i went was there, and after i talked to him i got it for 400 delivered to my house. The next day we got it running on 10 year old gas. Now just saving up some cash for a welder and we'llbe diving into it.

I stopped by a local guys garage to look at a 50s Chevy PU. I passed on the Chevy but asked if he knew where I might find a 30s or 40s PU. He said "I have a 35 Ford Pickup in my garage at home, Ill take ... for it". I looked at the truck and bought it on the spot. I had looked all over NC, VA, WVA ans SC for better than a year. This truck was 7 Miles from home. The truck was owned by this guy since 83 and sat since 91. I bought it in 2007.
