Hi I just wanted to know how you guys ran your electrical in your engine bays? Looking to get ideas to run mine.
My electrical was a mess before I cleaned it up. Thanks in advance. Here are some before and after pictures B251B016-C582-4159-9D8A-2FFC5D18BB45.jpeg F4A0B909-3D6B-4BF9-B8F6-7B6D36BA61E6.jpeg A662F2DB-EE91-4F4F-8C8F-6AAE1AEF3094.jpeg AEB402B0-7FEE-48CE-B64E-7BD6E55ACBE7.jpeg

Let me start by saying I'm jealous of your engine and the engine compartment. Both a re a thing of beauty!
Most of my wires going to the front, from the p***enger cabin, are coming out the same grommet you have yours but I have them routed out over the top of the drivers side inner fender panel and then across the front of the engine. Wires from the battery towards the back of the car are all run down low along the frame. I have the box for the electronic ignition mounted on the front panel next to the radiator down low. Tried to keep as many wires out of sight as possible.

Thank you for the compliment and advice. I’ll definitely be trying to hide them as much as possible.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Depending on the look I am trying for the car, I run the wires different ways. My 47 Ford being a traditional style rod, I ran the wires in the open and wrapped them in the cloth tape to keep the period look. My 52 on the other hand, well they are how Ford made them, the car only has a little less than 30 k on it. Either way, I am sure you can't go wrong.

On another note, is that a mustang dual master on there? I want to convert over to a dual reservoir master cylinder for my drum brakes.

I know today the engine bays with no wires showing is in. I personally have no problem with the stock appearing that attached to the lip of the firewall when using a Y-Block since the distributor and water temp are in the rear.
I would not like to trouble shoot a hidden wire car with a problem. I would make sure you do***ent everything especially the colors you are using.

Hidden wiring looks great and so does craftsmanship in exposed. I applaud every one who does not use: red, yellow, pink, blue, purple, orange, etc. spark plug wires.

Especially when you install a new wiring harness. The wires are labeled every so many inches.

With 97 wires coming off my engine and ****** to the computer, hidden was next to impossible, so being neat was the most time consuming part of the wiring. Also, I took Ron Francis' advise and wired it as if were a fibergl*** car so there is additional wiring not common to most. Nothing anywhere is grounded to the body, all grounds are wired grounds back to the battery. One of the ways I kept it neat and protected as much as possible was to use Volkswagon Jetta power distribution boxes for both power supply and ground. Poke that discription into Ebay Motors. Check the thread on engine compartment pics, and you'll see one of the distribution boxes on the inner fender behind the battery. You'll find them for 25-85 dollars, so shop carefully. My first wiring project, I've had zero wire related electrical issues.

That is a neat little box. Are you saying you used one for power and a separate one for ground? How are the fuses used? Seems like there are 5 outputs and only 3 fuses? Thanks

There are actually 8 outputs in each box. Five are on individual fusable links (which I removed/byp***ed for the ground wire system). Those five all connect to a common buss plate, so it's great for all those accessories you need to "run direct to battery" The other 3 are fused, which I think I actually used only in a few places because my main ch***is harness was built for my car and covered most everything. Yes, separate boxes for the grounds. I also installed a power box and ran a heavy supply line into the trunk for the things I forgot to run wires for. (came in handy when I added a power antennae)

    Hey Dave. Cars looking great!
I actually welded some pieces of conduit to the underside of my inner fender that I ran all my wires through. They come out of the firewall and dive straight down through the gap at the firewall and inner fender. Then the only wires going to the engine come out of a small gromet at the front of the inner fender. I’ll shoot you some pics later.
