How do I adapt a Ford RTS 4 speed overdrive trans to a Flathhead?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by INLAW MODEL A, Dec 11, 2011.

  1. I have this 4 speed trans that I would like to install behind a 8ba Flathead. I have search for info but have not found much. I was told it is an easy install.

okay....not all knowing....but this is the set-up for my 1939 Ford cpe build - the Merc bellhousing was chosin because of the linkage works with the 39 pedals....we had to weld on two threaded dowells if you will to the top - the bottom matches up fine....not sure what anyone else is doing....the bell housing should be 49-50 Merc... should be able to do the same with a 49-53 Ford bell housing....

Look up Gene Sanders of MEC in Akron, Ohio. Look on the web. He makes a great adapter just for this.
