How do I get magazine feature

build a woodie...they seem to love to shoot them...have no idea why...had quite a few covers too....

I remember being chased down quite a few times..weird huh...

A) you have to be an internet cheerleader for the magazine you want to get into ..

B) it helps to actually go to EVERY car show within a 2000 mile radius you can attend

C)did i mention being a CHEERLEADER for those magzines you want to get into..

D) when you go to those car shows within a 2000 mile radius,be sure to HOBKNOB with the magazine editors/photograpers...

be a friend of the guys that work at the magazines!!!!

doesnt matter,,,the other guys car can be ten times better than yours,,but if you are buddies with the "magazine" guys,,you are in like flin!!!

it's been that way for over 60 years!!!!!!!

 

No I only had a shot in goodguys,about 2 years ago before I made the rest of my changes to the car.

 

Hiboy..........what i said above was meant as guidance for you. My thoughts came from 50 years of Hot Rodding............. i dont know it all, no one does. But i feel all us older fucks can do to keep this thing going is pass any wisdom we learned along to the younger guys..........some day it will be your turn to do the same.............comprende??

 

Well I'm worried that nobody will want hotrods when I'm the age that most of you guys are.

 

Going to all the events doesn't guarantee anything! Many nice cars go to events and don't get noticed. It either happens or it doesn't. That doesn't mean your car is shit. There's more to the hobby than magazine coverage. It's nice if it happens,but it shouldn't be a goal. That's like "Trophy Chasers". Don't become like those guys! It has more of a Streetrod look to it than a Hotrod look. Don't let getting your balls busted on here get to you,LOL!!!! It's kinda like a right of passage...

I never said that it was my goal,I was only wondering what it takes to get in a mag,ok.I'm perfectly happy with what I got,and just driving the crap out of it,with a smile.

no ,of course it doesnt,,,but if you actually have something REALLY cool,,it sure does help to go to car shows....haha,more than likley,unless your friends "are magazine guys" no one else is going to pull into your driveway and ask to put your car in a magazine....hahhaa

It sounds to me like you got the "aint been laid" stink on ya. Just relax...crack a beer...and the ladies(magazine guys) will want your shit.

 

Hey!...at least it isn't flat black or rusty patina. That makes it more noticeable immediately.

I would say that it needs to be something an editor thinks will sell copy. Add a couple personal touches, to make it more one-of-a-kind.

Lastly, don't feel bad about wanting your car published. It is something that the "real vintage rodders" have been wanting since before half of these guys were shittin' their diapers, and tellin' you how it was, and should be!

 

Said before but just enjoy the roadster its a cool looking rod, wish I had mine finished when I was 27.
Ive seen many features in the last 5 years that dont come close to your ride, some mags print such crap rods just because they are wild (read- dangerous, over chopped, too low, built cheap (noticably) etc)
If OSR or Rebel Rods (or many other rags) wanted to print my roadster Id be offended.

 

real rule #1 get kirks home number and cell call every hour till he agrees!lol for real i had 3trucks in mini truckin just by hitting shows with a quality ride. ps givin editors free beer always good idea~!
