before i leave for bootcamp i want to lower my sedan here is a photo of mine and what i would like to do or be around any and all help will be greatly appreciated and if anyone in the los angeles can be conned into helping with beer and food leme know
Z-ing the ch***is and channeling it.I see you have a kick-up in the front of your frame already, If you Z the rear also it'll help with the low stance you're after. My Ch***is has a 4'' Z in the front and a 10'' Z in the rear.Don't go TOO LOW though it can look Cack!!!!
well lets put this factor into play here, im 6'3 so how low can you get it with out putting in a moon roof
My brother in law is 6' 4'' ish and hes o.k. in mine, but I don't have a chop like you.Mine stands about 4' 8'' tall at the moment(May go lower), as you've got a Sedan theres more scope to sit further back(depends if y' wanna back seat)Sinticket's on heres Sedan was in Street Rodder not that long ago(It's the Yellow one)may worth a look to see if theres any info in the article or you could P.M. him to ask the questions you need answered.HEY a Moon roof might be Cool, y' never know!!!!! Nick.
Hey man, 1st Thanks for serving our country!!! I'm still in building mode, but mine will ride about that low. 12" Z in the rear, 4.5" in the front w/ a 3" channell. That is one of my Fav-O-Rite Sedans!!! Jay
That car was in Street Rodder or Rod & Custom with a great write up. I think it gave all the specs on the build up.
There's nothing traditional about most of the ground dragging rods out there today. The way you've got is is traditional, and you still have some room in it. just my .02
MAN!!! yer sedan has a great stance now. then again..it stands out from the rest of the sedans out there. just thinking to loud...= )
Start with new tires, Way smaller in the front and larger ones in the rear like the copper sedan, then see where you need to be after that.
Not entirely true. You do run across uber-low cars in the 50s and 60s magazines. They were just not as common. Looked at a couple the other day. But you ARE right about the slew of em today............definately a 2000's trend.
Yes, Real Low cars were very popular back in the day. I've got several '26-'31 Ford bodies in the back yard that were seriously Z'd in the anciant past. The deep vertical slot cut in the rear wheel well for axle clearance is a giveaway clue. I've also got a pile of transverse Ford springs that were torched in the day to instantly lower '30s and 40s cars several inches. The evidence is there that seriously lowered rods were pretty common, AND ARE TRADITIONAL.
You will basically have to take apart the whole thing, Cut all your floors out, Z the rear of your frame, Make all new floors, Make new Exhaust,Chop your grille shell, Get a new radiator, Cut up your firewall, get new tires, Relocate wishbones, and depending on how your rear is set up might have to make adjustments there as well... When do you leave for boot camp???? The way I would do it is strip it down to bare frame and get the correct tires..then build the "New Improved" frame with the ride hight you want... but realistically I would leave it and drive the **** out of it before you leave.... then when you have the time do it right you can do it RIGHT ...unfortunately its not like owning a factory car that you can throw in some lowering blocks to get the job done... Good luck in Boot camp and thanks for serving our country.. evel
