How do I put Buick drums on 37-48 Ford spindles?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by INLAW MODEL A, May 6, 2007.

  1. Hello, I would like to know what I need to do to put Buick aluminum brake drums on to 37-48 ford spindles. I like the look but I can't find any articles on how to do this or what parts to use. What backing plates and shoes, or what donor cars do I look for. I have some Buick drums but have not measured them. I am using 5 x 4 1/2 bolt pattern wheels. Any help or parts is appreciated. Thanks!

There's a few ways to do this. I myself bought new Wilson Weldings hubs that are made just for this very thing. They are new hubs made to mount Buick drums on your Ford spindles.

No machine work needed to your drums at all, you only need to drill your new bolt pattern in the drum. You can have a machine shop do this cheaply, or buy a drill bit guide kit that screws into the new hubs stud holes, and lets you drill your own on a drill press.

The new hubs have 5x5.5, 5x4.5, & 5x4.75 bolt pattern.

And the best part, Hamb Alliance vendor Riley Automotive sells them:D
