I know there is a lot of Buick guys on here, so someone has to know! I am trying to remove the windshield wiper switch from my 1955 Buick Special, without wrecking it. Can anyone help me? I know it has to be easy, the ign sw and light sw were. Thanks everybody!

I had a '56 Special (loved that car!) and seem to remember a big difference between standard wipers and those varying-arc wipers. Which do you have?

There should be a "set screw" at the bottom of the knob...it'll be small and prolly a hex head...remove that, then there should be a 1/2" or 9/16" thin nut holding the switch on to the dash...there will also be some sort of "holder" that holds the sheathed/wrapped wire that goes to the motor on the back side of the wiper switch...there's prolly a screw that holds that in place...remove that and it'll come out...

check the top front part of the switch in back of the dash and see if you can feel a botton with a small spring around it// if so push ****on down while rotating shaft and knob ***y and pulling it straight out// this procedure is always good for a couple of razor cuts on your fingertips
