  1. Don't get me wrong...PLEASE, there are many nice cars here on the HAMB for sale, but I gotta tell ya...there are many **** boxes on here with asking prices that are...let me say delusional!!! Not only that, but many of us say what nice cars they are:confused::confused::confused:....thats ****ed up! If its a piece of **** for an outrageous price ...say its a piece of **** for christ's sake. Thats my editorial for this evening...Thanks for listening.

I don't know how others come up with their prices when they want to sell, but I usually ask half of what I have in a car so I can be sure to lose money.I like to sink lots of time and money in one and then lose my ***....least that seems to be what always happens in my case.

I have a simple equation anyone can use. Multiply the year of the car by how long youv'e had it. Throw in a decimal point then add kool factor. I think it works but all my cars seem to sell for nine dollars.

I lose money on everything I sell, be it cars or parts, but I make it up by selling in volume

Based on your strong conviction for fair prices..... I'll give you $500 for the car in your avatar.

  7. I will be serios here. I look at the market, Auto Trader, Deals on Wheels, HAMB cl***ifieds. I usually price a car or part LESS than the next guy so it moves. My 54 HAD a 6K+ price tag a couple years back. All fresh mechanicals in 03, low miles. Been enough time that I am ready to let it go for $4500. Car is parked outside, time to redo the 70s resto etc.............they dont ALL appreciate.

  8. Since its only a poster/picture....I'll take it! and will give you $450.00 in change...LOL

    ?
    got any for instances?

I dont buy cars.. so 75K for the car above is fine since i wouldn't be buying anyhow..

however as a rule I laugh in the face of ridiculous prices.. all this stuff was manufactured.. I can find anything again.. and again..

I do think its funny when someone gets bent over the values others place on a car.. just today my neighbor was upset that I let the woodie out in the rain..

    its just a car

Yeah, it's funny that when I'm looking to buy something it's worth a million dollars. When I go to sell, I get beat up about how much it ain't worth and damn me for trying to sell something that ain't worth nothing. I guess I'm saying I see your point and dang you for bringing it up.

  11. Hey Sawzall...the Scotty is in the barn....The 50 Chevy I have on here is also in the rain...go figure...HaHaHaHa

People usually price high expecting to be ground down a bit, I know I do on certain items. I think some folks also are hoping for some stooge with more money than brains to come along and pay off their mortgage for them. Since I've put my roadster on the road this spring, people have been asking me left and right if it's for sale and how much. I tell them 50k. Most guys nod understandingly, had a few scoff, and a few say it's a good price for the car. Is it a 50k car? Maybe, maybe not, regardless that's what it's worth to me at this point in time. I just put it on the road, I don't really want to sell it and I'm not advertising it, but if someone "just has to have it", that's what it will take.

Most people ask in a stupid post that gets ignored by the m***es what their car is worth. Most people on here also buy or have given to them said 'vehicle'.

  15. Since I am in the market for a car, specifically a 9 p***enger wagon, I've been trolling eBay again.

Gotta love the delusional on that site!!! Following a Poncho, same as my dad had, back when it was new. Owner has had it relisted 4 times now. Each and every time, it got bid to around $8-900 bucks. So, what does our intrepid millionaire do for the fourth go-'round?? Minimum bid $1,100. Now I don't know about everyone here, and I can't speak for every site, but eBay gets it's share of traffic. And if I had a car that was not ever bid over 900 bucks, something oughtta click in the brain that MAYBE the car just ain't worth what you're asking. And I believe that it costs extra dough to relist, and the bidder just isn't going to pay that out of good will or whatever.

How do you figure out pricing?? Look everywhere. Try to find out auction results, ignore online ads (because you can ask anything, the selling price is what it's actually worth). Or, if no one will pay the money you want, keep it, or get realistic. I always start **** on eBay at a low price to get bids, and let the auction process work. I've never sold with a reserve, and I never bid on reserve auctions.

The seller doesn't determine the price. The buyer does.

I use an ***ortment of price guides, toss in a pinch of experience and a dash of common sense.

I see many situations where the price is just way wrong. I usually ***ume it is based on a combination of investment, emotional attachment and perhaps greed. This usually is the case when a person is selling their own pride and joy.

Now when it comes to "car jockeys", well, that can be a totally different story. Certainly investment and desired profit enter the equation. Unfortunately, the investment is often too great for the quality. This leads to deception and dishonesty.

Once in a while, a seller has a good grasp on the market and is in need of the funds. This offers an opportunity to purchase a vehicle on the money. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen very often.

that is my take on the market

I think it depends on a lot of factors including seller's motivation to sell, current market trends, popularity and/or fame of car or builder...

Personally, I have a number in my head of what I would let my car go for. It's a high price, and if someone is crazy enough to give me that, I'm willing to part ways. This is because I don't really need the money and I like my car and have no desire to sell. However, if it was the difference between my family eating that month or not, I would be much more motivated and the price would reflect that.

So if you wont or cant afford it,,,,,, move on. Really that hard? Who cares if that guy wants $75k for that car?

A seller can come down on price if hes too high, but rarely can he go up in price if hes too low.

  22. A **** box isn't typically worth the asking price, unless it's a '32 Ford ****box, then it's a bargain.:D

    What "bobwop" said ^^^^^^.

It amazes me how all over the page prices can be on basically the same cars. Usually the lesser car will be priced higher. They want to claim its a "Survivor" if its a little too rough. Like that will make it worth more money.... Kinda strange to me, but that's how it is.

Been watching a few cars on ebay in MN. Been in the salvage section for a couple years now. They still haven't sold. It just goes to show, some are both ridiculous AND persistent.

it's not that complicated really, try and follow along, people who really need to sell an item will price it to sell fast, people who don't need to sell an item will typically price it high because if it sells great and if it doesn't who cares, remember they didn't need to sell it in the first place.

my ads usually say something like: I'm not getting divorced, my wife's not pregnant, I didn't lose my job or get hooked on meth so don't bother lowballing.

personally i figure if it doesn't sell, it will only be worth more later, at least until that super secret stash of millions of old original cars and parts floods the market and makes prices drop.... oh nevermind that won't ever happen. what was your question again?

    I say post examples! :D

I think different people have different reasons for selling cars and different perceptions on what makes a car valuable.

I'll go $75,500 and 10k for shipping. Do I get it? Ok 10k for shipping and I'll pick it up cash in hand.
