How do you clean magnesium wheels?

I've got on old set of magnesium 5-spokes that look pretty bad. I don't really mind the dark color, but someone must've used mag wheel spray cleaner on them at one time. They have some ugly white streaks through the blackish tarnish.

 

Walnut shell blast ..... Dow 7 top coat
