I've had excellent results with Bleach White, and I've never has a problem with it on my spraybomed wheels. I'd imagine it would do a number on polished aluminum though. It is caustic after all.

I have always used a soap called "brown soap", its an old type of soap used to clean i.e. wooden floors! Its very cheap, non toxic (Not acid, but I dont think you should eat it) And its not hard on your tires!

I put some on a sponge and covers the whitewalls with a thin layer, I then wash the rest of the car. Then I return to the wheels, who just needs some water and they look like new! :)

If you use Wesleys Bleach White the way they say then yes, it will damage paint. It doesn't have to sit as long as recommended. I've used that exclusively for decades and NEVER a problem. A bristle brush and a little effort the whites will actually shine like new tires. SOS and Brillo are the standard of the years, like Comet and Ajax, but they're both abrasive. No problem if your regular cleaning regimen includes the whites every time. I've used Wesleys on 6 figure cars with no adverse effects. The spray it on and let it sit method is lazy to me. Also spray it on a wet tire. Some interesting ideas on this post...
