I call it mine. It runs and drives. It was my first build. It's not the best nor the worst. I'll never really be done with it I imagine. Someday soon it will be introduced to paint.
I have several cars the black '54 Ford we call her the "Old Black******" as she is flat black and flamed to death, the '41 International pick up is called the "Green Truck" as we owen 3 trucks, the '23 T-bucket is called "Dripping in Chrome" if you see it you would know why, '64 merc. we call it we need to git it done, as it's a project at this time, the '60s front engine dragster we call "NHRA no more" as they will not lets us run it.
I normally do not describe it, but rather see how others describe it. Over the weekend it was sumarized by a 9 year old. "Who's peice of***** is that?"
When it's kickin' my**** it's a no good son-of-a-bitch. When I finally get smart enough to fix it...it's a good lookin' sum-bitch.
I call it the 37. The wife calls it the project. Friends call it THE TRUCK. What ever it is called...right now it is in about 100 pieces.
How it usually goes with me or my wife... "What is that?" "1950 Chevy Suburban" " I didn't know they made those then" "Now you do"
HA HAA! Damn kids! I call mine a Hot Rod to my kids... a Mild Custom or 60's Street Racer to those who know... and a Broke************** right now with it on jack stands with the trans out of it! M. McF.
the parts getter that needs parts for itself. and an actual "not afraid to get dirty or be used as a truck" pickup.
How would I describe my cars? I would describe my 65 Riviera as "wrecked", and my 59 LeSabre as "blown up".
My dream come true, Mercrod (my plates) The rod. Semi rare, belly*****on engine -350/350. works for me though. Pretty quick. Great road car.
My 36 roadster is the hot rod or the roadster, my Galaxie is the Galaxie and my 28 roadster p/u is the rat rod (everywhere but on here)
to friends and family, it's "the merc" as in "Hows the merc running?" Or "i'm taking the merc to work today." As far as describing it, I think the a reasonable detailed description is a modern, work in progress attempt at recreating a mid to late 1950's mild custom(appearance wise.) I can't say it's entirely period perfect, as it has some modern touches(latter day drive train, airbags, stereo.) The basecoat paint-job also kind of takes away from it's 50's authenticity.
Thanks for all the wisdom and interesting descriptions. I called mine finished one time, but I'll never say that again because it will always be a work in progress. keep on posting very fun to read.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
