Not a coupe of course, but my sedan has pretty close to the same stance you are looking for. 4 inch dropped A axle up front with reversed eye main spring and several leaves removed. Rear is T spring. 16 inch '35 wires, 550's up front and 700's in the back. Mechanical brakes, stock shocks and steering and a 4 banger.
you graybeards will remember gas rationing and paying 90 cents a gallon. lots of guys installed pinto and vega engines in their rods!
How did you drop the front 4 inches and keep the mechanical brakes? I am looking to change to a 1932 front end with the 1932 spring perches to keep my mechanical brakes. Would love to see some pictures. Thanks.
I used a '30 Model A front axle, "stretch" dropped 4 inches (to maintain the stock width so the mechanical brake shafts still fit between the perches and brake drums), '32 spindles and perches. I'm pretty much following @Elrod's set up. I have a thread going. The front end work starts here on page 5. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ntally-buys-a-model-a-now-what.1111340/page-5
Found Elrod's thread that I used for reference: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/slammed-the-31-ford-coupe-sweet-and-low-down.332870/
I ran a T spring rear sans 5 leafs with reversed eyes, front is the stock axle dropped 4" with posies reverse eye spring and 1 leaf removed. Tires are 820/15 rear and 560/15 fronts on '46 ford plates/brakes and hubs. Didn't get a chance to put the fronts or bobbed rear fenders on before I sold it to a buddy that really wanted it, but we mocked it up and sits nice and low with that set up.
Bingo Yep the stagger in wheel size make that look. I am amazed it took that long to get the real answer. I guess 4 cylinder hate is strong around here. Gearing and five speeds would shock most people. Wont be fast but will be better than my 63 ranchero is right now.
