  5. Why sell for maybe 50 cents on the dollar? I say drive the freakin thing until it needs to be re-done then spend another 20 years re-doing it

    Thanks again for the suggestions.
The car is not a stocker. He has driven it, checked it out before painting. He doesn't have a computer, a TV, or even a job; he spends all of his time on his car and restoring his house. He must have worked on the fan shroud for at least three months. Started the bodywork a year ago - not a ripple in it, he even welded welding rods to the edge of the doors to make them fit perfectly. Added a brake light under the rear window - must have taken another 3 months to make it perfect. He had a very good muffler shop which does all the show cars from around here run the exhaust, he got it home and re-did it all be cause it wasn't good enough.
I guess the next question I shoud ask is how to find a good appraiser?

Ebay would give you the most exposure for the money, you can`t argue with $80 if the car sells and $40 if it doesn`t.

My buddy recently sold his `41 Willys on Eba for very close to $100k and had no problems....he now has the orig Alloway `33 Speedstar listed on there.....and it`s already upto about $60k I think.

Wire transfer is the safest way I have found for getting paid or paying for a car. You cannot clear out an account with someones bank account number. If that was the case you would be at risk everytime you write a check. Your acct # and routing info is printed on every check you write. And even if you are concerned about that, you can open up a checking account just for the transfer, and have the money sent there. Or... cash is good too, but invest in a counterfeit marking pen. They are a couple of bucks at Office Depot, or ask your bank for one.

Back to the subject... I have sold several high end cars on Ebay, but it almost always after the auction ends. People dont want to get caught up in a bidding frenzy, and feel pressured to spend that much money with out looking at the car. I agree that the buy it now w/ offer type listing would be best for this type of vehicle. Just remember that you really cant have too many pictures, and detail shots. I do my ebay listings from a buyers perspective. I think of all the areas I would want to see if I were buying the car sight unseen. Ebay is great, but you cant beat a big show like the NSRA nats to sell a car like this... sounds like it would need to be seen in person to appreciate the quality of work.

So the guy put it together, took it apart, put it together again etc. etc. And now he's scared to drive it, what a waste of a brain and what poverty in his heart, that he cannot enjoy his hard and devoted work and is afraid for his money... what a life!

Denise.. The guy aint nuts.. I felt the same way about my coupe. Although it wasnt a money deal at first. It was just too nice :D Then the heart attack then the 42.5k offer for a gl*** car. It was done right you saw it. I invested a ton of money and time. Why did I sell it.. #1 money.. #2 I didnt have to cleaN THE THING ANYMORE . (THATS ALL UP TO THE OWNER ON HOW CLEAN HE WANTS IT BUT MINE WAS AS NICE UNDER AS IT IT WAS ON TOP).. **** sorry about the caps.. I keep my daily's as clean as I can and My bikes too. #3 ya money again... That car should bring some big cash if its what its claimed to be. And I didnt even advertise mine but id go with good guys and street scene and hemmings on this one if i was him> ive also heard good things too about good guys for selling ****.. You have a totally different reason for having the car you do and you drive the piss outta it. Good girl.. Just dont loose track of the fact that there are other people out here that view this **** differently. Its a free world and if the guy wants to sell the car then sell the car.. Ive been doing hot rods since the mid 70's . Ive built a lot of cars and its fun but a buck is a buck..

NSRA Nats in L'ville is coming soon... tell him to take it there. Beyond that, www.streetrodding.com, www.hotrodhotline.com, Ebay, the major auction houses, etc. Or... he could just drive it and enjoy all his hard work and delayed gratification.
