Hey Norton, I went through all this same stuff a while back when I was building my first flathead. Some good info here. I also went with Holley 94s, they are cheaper and I already had them. After a lot of talks with flathead guys, I decided to go with a 3x2 intake and progressive linkage, so that I'm only running on 1 carb for most of the time. A lot of guys felt that running dual carbs simultaneously on my ~150hp flathead would be too much for it, and if you run progressive linkage on duals you don't have even distribution of fuel to the cylinders. (don't want to offend anyone that has done this successfully, because it obviously works well for some people)

Besides, the more carbs the better.....it looks cool...haha

  2. Hi Guys,

Id def say the money spend on a dizzy upgrade is worth every penny on a flathead. The 8BA dizzy is a wierd collection of compromises - I know then has been discussions on how to get them running reliably and even working with dual 94's but its never appeared to be worth the effort to me. I went with the mopar small block conversion (thanks Rat Bastard) and it looks great, works oustandingly (felt like the rev range doubled over a stocker) and has never let me down. I'm also running duals with a non progressive linkange (thanks Corey) and it works really well. I think the real trick is the power valves and getting the right ones for the vacuum level. I have stock and they open way to early but thats ok, it still seems to work well.
