How do you remove galvanizing?

    Any acid will remove the zinc (galvanizing). Muriatic is just diluted hydrochloric acid, but is still way stonger than vionegar, which as acetic acid in it.

    Mechanical means of removing the zinc can also be done- wire wheel, blasting, sanding, etc.

    Hey EMS guy, you may not be galvanizing your panels, but the steel you are buying is galvanized. Either electroplated or galvanneal. You are exactly right, grinding off the zinc galvanizing does make it rust faster. Duh.... that is why the factory use galvanized steel now for car bodies.
