how the heck do you remove the interior door handle and window crank on a 51 ford tudor?

I know some stuff from the 60's-80's you can use a shop towel and saw it around the handle to release the clip, but its not working on the 51

  3. There is a small horse shoe retaining clips that hold the handle on. They make small hand tools that look like a two tine fork. I've done it with a thin long screwdriver.

If it is like a 50 Ford, push in on the escutcheon and you will see a pin. Push the pin out with a pin punch and remove the handle assembly

    CB,

Are you sure? That looks like a generic upholstery clip removing tool. I have a '51 Club Coupe I had to take a door panel off of a couple of weeks ago and had a hell of a time. I first tried the shop rag trick, and that didn't work. I then bought one of these from Amazon.com. I have used these before, but although they work good on GM cars, the clip in the Ford seems to be "backwards" and I couldn't get it to work. I finally got the clip out using two pieces of stiff wire with hooks bent into the ends. After I got it apart, I figured I could figure out what I was doing wrong. Even then, the clips seems to go in from the wrong end. In the deep recesses of my mind, I seen to vaguely remember that the proper tool is a pliers-like thing that you slide between the handle and the panel and the "roll the clip out. Anybody know the real story is?

Edit : It's completely different from a '50 and earlier.

I have the tool in your picture as well.......but I have used the other one with success, although I will say that it's a tricky thing to do for sure.......either tool is better than trying to do it with a thin screwdriver......and I am also doing it on a '51 Ford Victoria....

I hope I am done doing this for a while!

If you know someone who may have ever worked on I B M Typewriters , get a tool called a Springhook. It's a very small hook on a slender handle that allowed the technician to bend bent type keys on a carrier . If you can't locate that , try a small hook tool from say Snap - On . scrubba
