sticky traps, shop vac, and I have to close my shop doors in the evening before turning on my lights to keep out bugs. Spiders LOVE bugs but I wish they would learn to use the toilet, their **** is harder than concrete! peace

If you don"t have small kids moth balls work great, but with little ones around not a good idea.

Wow, for once on this forum i'm the proffessional here. I've been in the pest control business for nearly 22 years, 18 of those as a service technician. First off, billy the exterminator is an idiot and it goes to show that the real blue collar proffessional is rarely reconized. Some earlier post aren't far off the mark, using the right pesticide, in the right places will equal good control, key word control, you will not eliminate, all products need re-applied. Before applying anything, what are the conducive conditions that exist that need addressed? Lighting attached to the garage left on at night will draw insects that the spiders will feed on, move lighting attached to building to a few feet away shining on the structure (gound/pole flood lights) or change to soduim vapor bulbs. Where are they getting in? Treat entry points such as exterior of doorways, windows and soffits. Interior will be the same, but focus on storage areas behind, under, and inside equipment, cabinets, and parts stock piles. Some products mentioned will work fine, look at active ingredents for what you're really getting. Example, Demon WP is 'Cypermethrin', great product for spiders but only if applied in the right areas. Another good product and easily available over the counter is 'permethrin'. Don't use the sevin dust as mentioned to broadcast if you dont want to harm your pets. Dust can be used in attic lofts and injected into the soffits. Lastly, non toxic glue traps placed in and behind equipment will catch loads of insects, and if the dog gets one stuck to em, veg oil will safely dissolve the glue. You will need to re-apply usually every 4 months. Also, before you start your treatment, clean out all the webs you can, this will force the insects to cross the materials you apply. Understand insects do not injest these products, they are absorded through the pores on there bodys, get it into the the tight hiding areas they use. Hope this helps, good luck!

  6. I use another critter called a cat, but he's fat and lazy so I just deal with the other critters. That make sense? Oh well, I just make sure there are no widows in my cars when I put my feet in. :p

Spiders are fun to torch :D Our problem is cats and birds finding their way into our shop during the day. Ive gotten countless calls from the alarm company in the middle of the night and had to run down to the shop to find an animal of some sort inside.

Another ****y one is when its late and youre tired and ready to lock up, and a bird flies inside now you cant set the alarm

I bought and use the electronic boxes. I put two of them in the shop. They have settings for insects, birds, mice, etc. They have worked pretty darn good. No mice and almost all of the insects stay out of the shop area.

I used to have a couple of Wolves, if you want to lay waste to the local cat population, they'l do it. They also wiped out an entire pack of Coyotes one summer....

For mice, rats, ****s and other furry things, eliminate their food source. Dog food, cat food, bird food and garbage are tasty treats for them. An animals 2 biggest resources are food and shelter, get rid of the easy one, food, and they'll probably go to someone else's place. If you must store these items in you garage, seal them tightly in metal containers and make sure you don't slop it all over when you need to get more out. One of my neighbors keeps his dogs and their food in his back garage so critters head there first when the weather gets cold.

At work we see a lot of rodent damage in late fall/early winter. Engine compartments and heater boxes packed with animal feed and ripe with mouse piss.

I leave a box of De-Con in the garage each fall and it gets eaten up by spring, just as some extra insurance.

Spray those insects as has been mentioned before, and you guys are on your own with reptiles! None of the creepers up here, thank goodness!
