I'm running new cables and don't understand how this value works with the return spring. I ran the new cable to the dash control and it just springs back. I'm at a lost.my old one was frozen so I don't know how it work in the first place. And the box is in the car now. 20180427_194441.jpg

It's a Ranco valve, temp sensitive to regulate temp inside car. When cables are adjusted correctly, it does everything by itself.

So the engine needs to be warm for it to work?

If you're not on Trifive.com's forums you should be. Those guys know these cars specifically and know exactly what you're looking at.

It regulates the flow when the "heat" or "temp" control is pushed down. Someone here will post the setup instructions soon if you haven't bought a shop manual yet.

I just joined yesterday morning and I'm waiting for a response. I shall see I'm a new guy so you never know.

I have the original ***embly manual it doesn't really talk about how it functions.

Ya it's from Dan Chuck mine is totally frozen, will I still get heat in the car?

I doubt it. I ended up taking the guts out of the valve on my 55, and soldered a penny over the hole. Full flow of coolant. The heater worked fine. You can shut off the air through it, you know.

But there are probably tricks to make it work, that the tri five guys know.
