OK folks, so I'm still pissed, but maybe your perspectives can help me calm down. Here's the deal: I was about to sell the 50 Plymouth in my signature--long time coming and I truly need the money--so a buddy agrees to buy it along with a couple of differentials. I tell him I don't have a ***le, but I do have a bill of sale. The car itself is on some land owned by a mutual friend and has been there about a year. He shows up after going to the DMV and wants me to fill out forms, try to get the ***le from the guy I bought it from (who was pretty adamant about not having a ***le) and goes through a bunch of baloney (my opinion) about not buying a car w/o a ***le. It's a 58 year old car, and who knows where the ***le is. Then he tells me that the receipt I got for the car isn't really a bill of sale anyways, so he can't work w/ that either. My plan was to get it close to running and then worry about all of that. I know you can file for a lost ***le, etc. To be fair, this guy is a sherriff's deputy (but not a bad guy, really), and I have a deep phobia about forms and bureaucracy. Still I think he's being a little over concerned about the whole deal. And I still need my money. You-all's input much appreciated, Joe
cars are sold all the time with a bill of sale and no ***le- tell him if he doesnt want it AS IS you 'll find another buyer.
tell his **** retentive ways to go get bent..than find someone who really wants the car and cares enough to do what it takes to make it happen..Or you go apply for the lost ***le than charge him 300 bucks more ..either way..i wouldnt sell it to this guy..i see nothing but trouble coming from this dude. most times the money aint worth the h***el. besides hes a cop? than he should know how to get **** done.
It's not that hard in Texas right now. You said that you have a bill of sale right? Take that do***ent to a ***le company, and talk with them. Their is some back and forth at the Court house you will have to do, but it's well worth it. what you will get is a bonded ***le. Just got my 32 2d ***led two months ago. Not very hard, just leg work and time on my part.
A cop trying to be honest? Wow.... I kid.... I kid.... He's probably just scared of the h***les that he's seen others go through. For the extra $150 try to go through one of the online ***le companies and get him a ***le, but make it on his nickel for the expense.
