yea but Hawaii is a fucken cooool place! i love it there! and miss it too:(
ive learned a lot from the guys and gals here.

  2. I've gained a shit load of knowledge/information from this group. the vast amount of knowledge here far outweighs the small amount of stupidity. also the diversity is so much more fun than the "niche" sites that only like one type of car. the classifieds are waaaaaayy better here than any other site I've ever been on. and there are some hilarious somana bitches here!

I've learned more than I ever wanted to know about S-10 frame swaps, body drops, laying frame, dryer sheets, chrome paint, replacing the letter s with the letter z. I now know rat ro*s, soft paint, getting illegal VINS, poorly made tools, clips that are too wide, and hot/poorly running sbc's. I get to tell people I don't know what their stuff is worth, or what it is in the first place. I discovered that someone on the HAMB makes kick-ass cookies, that people go to great lengths to get! I see that if you are a chick and an FNG doing an intro you get mobbed by desperate hot-rodders who are doing everything short of asking for a date! I learned not to leave my uncovered hot rod project near a pile of sand during construction, and enough Car Club names to last 4 life times.

I also learn daily the way stuff used to be done, and re-affirmed the style of cars I like. I get awesome tech information, and see some truly great builds. I've seen good people die, I've heard the joy of new babies born into the HAMB (cars and kids), and the fun and heartache that goes along with both. I've met lots O HAMBers in real life, and even like some of them!

In short, for a few hours a day I get to live life the way I want to, if only on the internet.

Thanks Ryan, and all the rest of you people that make it fun!

The HAMB has taught me TOLERANCE ... :)

I see the blood, sweat and tears in some of the HAMB built cars that I previously discounted as " less than worthy " of a good look see.

Never really cared much for vehicles made after World War II ... except for transportation ... or as a " parts car ". Here on the HAMB I have seen some real " P I G S " transformed into something to be proud of. :D

The H.A.M.B. has increased my circle of friends from the admittedly rather large gene pool of my hometown of Phoenix, to being world wide. It also has given me the medium I needed to acrue some much needed computer skills... I wish that I had jumped in back in about 2003 when Elpolacko was trying to push me into this deal!!! Steve, thank you for insisting I get involved in this stuff, and Ryan, thanks for building the playground!!!

I've made some new friends, learned more shit than one could imagine, shared some insights with others (priceless to me), and now have a wife who seems to give that "tsk-sigh" thing when she sees me on it. I'd probably get away with porn easier!!

I've always been fond of history and there's more of that here than any of us could discover in a lifetime. The only negative? There's been some real mouthbreather douchebags in here from time to time but the mods and the boss do really well at weedin em out. Not enough of a negative to keep me away or from telling serious enthusiasts about it. Just spoke with a guy who worked for Von Dutch for a short time in his teens and passed him a link. THAT's what this place is about the most. And to think, we started out talking Packards....

  8. So, traditional hotrods, huh? I always knew what I liked, I just didn't know it had a name.

I've met some really amazing people, mostly in cyber space. Complete strangers have gone out of their way to help me (even when I was a humble FNG) and although we don't always agree with each other I've only really run across one or two weenies.

I've learned that Henway made a lot of stuff.

I've laughed until I cried and have been touched by those who have turned here in their grief to announce the death of a wife, parent, child or close friend.

Tradition is honored and homage is paid to those that have come before us. We honor our dead with perpetual membership and we go out of our way to help a HAMBer in need. For you FNGs, approach this place with humility for it is awesome, in the true sense of the word.

Thanks Ryan and everyone. It's my kind of place. Thanks for having me.

Now, here's a pic of a traditional Aardvaark:

Helped me with a shitload of questions on how to do something and about ideas I have. Don't live near my dad or my father in law, that both know a lot about mechanics, so I ask questions here, and get useful information. If I forget, I don't need to call again, I just look at posts. It has also shown me more cars than I could ever imagine for ideas for my own and given me inspiration to keep working on that bastard when I'm pissed.

Also saved me money on magazine subscriptions (all goes to Alliance membership anyway). I get way more helpful, real information here than any of the rags I have read. Not too many start to finish build threads describing every step of the way, in a magazine.

It has also got me addicted to the Friday Art Show. The talent on here is phenomenal. Gives me one more reason to look forward to Fridays.

  10. The HAMB was a large influence in bringing me back into the fold, you might say. My long term project was in mothballs for the better part of 25 years, thanks in part to many life changes, but also due to car trends that were all going in the wrong direction, IMHO.

Now it seems things have come full circle and its good to see that a rather large contingent also appreciate the basic "build on a budget" and d.i.y. themes instead of the mega-dollar street rods that prevailed for many years.

It may be on my bucket list now, but I know my '36 is finally gonna see the light of day!

Wished I would have come along sooner.
Learning tons of stuff, reading from folks that have been doing it longer.
Gives me inspiration to take something that looks hopeless, and make it nice.
Keeping me from calling my '30 Tudor, a rat-rod.
Learned REAL quick to have thick skin and not take comments personally.
And some folks can get real pissy behind a keyboard..

This place keeps me from sinking into a world of 4x4 Jeeps :D And when a friend started his own vintage truck site he asked for my suggestions...The only thought was can I say shit and fuck like on this site? Sometimes, nothing gets the point across better than profanity.

Its great to find a place that aspires to my same ideas. Alot of talent, great friendships, inspiration and freely given technical help. If it wasn't for the knowledge gained from the Hamb and Fordbarn, I'd still be installing crate motors and small blocks in cars.
Ha! Maybe I would have been sane then....

I came on board years ago for the tech knowledge. The amount of info is amazing! More importantly it opened my eyes about people.I always believed all of the dumb in the world was within slapping distance of me. I now see it's all over the country.

  18. HAHA! I guess I should have added..."I run into the nicest young ladies, since I joined the HAMB!"

The Impact of the HAMB? No Story really...Without going Freudian....it's like ten of thousands of dads there to encourage, teach, slap you around, and kick your ass a little. Just like my Dad did. Period.

  25. I spend entirely too much time on here. I have learned so much and met some fantastic people. Hell, my truck would not be built without the HAMB. Thanks HAMB!!

  26. The creativity and ideas on the HAMB is endless. When I need motivation and inspiration to continue drawing Hotrods and concepts, I come here. I'm very grateful for this very cool site.

After working in the automotive field for far too long, I don't get along with the general public and mostly hate the rich gold chain bastards that belong to our area car clubs ( not you Chuck!). The old rod & custom pics always got me excited but no car shows in our area ever had anything like em'. The H.A.M.B. made me realize why I always drove rods that the local builder called "clown cars" (yeah you Walker!). My Model A won't win awards, is going to take a long time to get where I want it, but it's mine. I have two sons, four and six, that are being brought up helping me with it, and they will know the difference between built and bought. That being said, thanks to Ryan for the H.A.M.B., the mods, to all of you for reading this, and to Bone Daddy for letting me spill. 29. And in case I haven't mentioned it, ...... Thanks Bob! :D

What impact has the H.A.M.B. had on me? I now have less productive time, more useless parts and a whole lot less free cash. And I owe it all to this crazy gang of lunatics.

    Ryan, I hate you. :p
