I am addicted to this show. In fact, this show is one of the reasons I put directv in the shop. Usually I don't care about the stuff they are making nearly as much as I find myself in awe watching the machines that DO the making. However, I just saw them making wood chisels and thermostats. Maybe I'm retarded, perhaps ignorant... but I never really wondered how thermostats worked or thought about the process to make them. It was cool ****. If you haven't seen this tv show, check it out. It beats the hell out of Overhaulin' or "American Hotrodchopper" ****.
It is VERY addictive. They had a constant showing of it a few weeks ago, I must have watched 15 of them in a row, and didn't get bored with it. Wildly interesting show!
I find myself watching the weirdest ****. One day I was watching the history of concrete, very interesting. My wife wanted to know what I was watching, when I told he she laughed and said next I would be watching the history of dirt. Gary
I watch it alot. it's too cold and I'm too lazy to fire up the heater in the garage. I just sit, watch tv and get fatter
My wife chuckled when she seen me watching it , thought I must have been bored ****less. Now she doesn't miss an episode!
Dont have cable anymore, saw an episode in Mpls on business last weekend. THey were building guitars, 3 weeks from start to finish
I design a lot of automated machinery similar to what you see on that show. I have been doing that professionally for over 42 years now, and I find it just as intriguing from my end as a design engineer. I build hotrods as a hobby and design automation and prototype machinery in order to pay for my hotrod habit.---www.rupnowdesign.com ---Brian
I love this show, amazing how some things you take for granted are made....I found out how plastic cups & cutlery were made this morning! Tivo set to record it daily!
ok......I watched Mr Rogers when they went to the factory that made Trombones , interesting how they bend them.....
Be sure to watch the episode where they make the new Rolls Royce Phantom Convertible. It's really refreshing seeing craftsmen taking pride in their work (granted they are building a $400K + car that most people will never see in public, let alone own one).
i watch it all the time, in fact it's on in ten minutes here...nightly ritual and all ...my wife makes fun of me for it but i can't get enough.
It amazes me how much goes into making some things. I watched the one about light bulbs (incandescent) and from the show you would think a single light bulb should cost about 20 bucks! The complexity of the procedures is amazing, and then to think that they only cost a few cents? CHAZ
I Love the show watch it all the time , I thought I was weird to be watching it, but now know it's all of us............. AND I learn something everytime I watch it.............
I like it and watch it when I flip the remote. It reminds me of another one back when cable first started called "The Secret life of Machines" That was a great show.
I like the show too. Especially since I spent 35 years involved in developing processes to make everything from cl*** rings to cotton pickers. Also like the John Rathunberger show "Made in America". Of course any of these would be better than watching Boyd, OCC, or Overhaulin.
i've been watching the show alot recently, anyone know if they ever did an episode on model kits yet? i've always wondered what was involved in making them.
I watch all the time, my only complaint is that they seem to rush through some things just to fit more in. I wish they would spend the whole episode on one factory or what ever they are making at the time. I want to see more details. Maybe they are trade secrets and they dont want to show them.
We are gearheads! Why shouldn't we like this show? If we didn't, our gearhead bonafides might be suspect.
im with you on this one i watch it all the time and sometimes it seems they run through the process to quickly. another neat show they had on the history channel was how they made the gold coins and it included how they melted the gold bricks down and form the strips of gold they cut the blanks out of.
That was great, liked the CNC cutter for the leather hides. After detailing a new Bentley last year,i really appreciate what quality means! Is this show new stateside,we've had it for a few years here.
I watch the same ones over again! The one on an electric clothes drier turned out to be the one we own. It wasn't until the end when they popped the control panel on that I said hey that's mine!
the boy(6)and myself watch it all the time. It is the only show I let him watch during the school week
Me too....until I retired. I moved to Michigan from the mid-80's to the mid-90's and worked at a job shop that did many interesting things like you see on that show. It still holds my interest !
