How low can a 28/29 coupe go without a rear kickup?
Can they be low enough with a Model T spring? Springs taken out?
Any pics of fenderless coupes with that kind of drop.
4 inch drop Axle in front.
    Thanks

This is what i have. 20260220_120003.jpg No kick, '29 sport coupe, model t spring with only 5 leaves left.
    6.00x16 tire.
It might settle an inch or so once the car is more complete.
With a 4" drop axle, you might have a ton of rake. Someone with more experience may jump in, though.

I have a model t rear spring with a reversed eye main leaf in my roadster and have a stepped frame to get it down where it looks right to me. IMG_0097.JPG

This was stock rear frame. Clearance from frame rail to axle was about 2".
    Coilovers behind axle.

If you want to push the minimum axle/frame clearance limit, adjustable bump stops would be s good plan.

You’re going to land a 750/16 about 4” from the wheel well body line at the top center of the tire at lowest with spring over and no step.

Only way I could see getting it lower with out stepping the frame would be to run the spring in front of the axle and move the rear cross member forward or cut it off and replace it with what ever your going to use forward of the rear axle.

could do a traverse spring still, t buckets do this. Could do coil overs or quarter eliptics. Doesn’t really matter other than packaging challenges.

Wheel and tire size makes a ton of difference in the way a car looks. The in-progress 29 with 16” wheels and 6.00 tires looks like a 4x4 compared to the chopped coupe with 18” wheels and 7.00 tires.

Did quite a few customer 32 ch***is for Model A's with a 2-3 inch kick in the rear, flat front cross member, 4 inch axle and Durant mono leaf spring. I usually stuck with a Posie low A rear spring. My ch***is usually sat right.

These are a little off the topic but you can see what a mild kickup and a couple different front end tratments can do for stance. These modifications aren't that hard to do. Slamming a 32 ch***is just takes a little extra work.

    Thanks for the info Brother.
I know how to do a step/kickup and i know its not that hard. I just wondered if one can achieve a cool look without that Mod? The Eli coupe i posted has spring behind setup, no step, just a slight C notch of the frame rail. And that stance screams kool to me.

I've built a lot of 32 to A ch***is and sometimes you gotta cutum up a little to achieve your goals. I've had to raise he wheel wells etc. I did a ch***is for full fendered A ch***is for a 29 coupe a few years ago that used a flat front cross member, 5 inch axle and a slightly kicked rear with coil overs that sat really low but kept the stock floor. Can't find any pictures.
