What components and tire/ wheel sizes do you all recommend for me to get my full fendered 32 Ford tudor sedan as low as possible? It will be staying an I beam, and transverse spring with no bags, also I don't really want to use a 4 bar or hairpins, and want to stay with wishbones front and back. Recommend to narrow the dropped axle also?
A 5" axle and 155R15's up front are as low as you'd want to be. I get the low thing, I really do, but anything lower than that is just stupid low, and not right for a hot rod. My '27 T Roadster build: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t= 734383
I used a Super Bell 4" narrow axle, a Posie's reverse eye super low spring with the top 2 leaves removed (later had to put the leaves back in after the spring settled) a Magnum disc brake kit that was offset to the inside 1" and a pair of 4X15 rims with 0" offset to the rim and a pair of 155rX15 radials on my '32 2dr (pictured in my avatar). The car is full fendered and from the side you don't see any tire at the top of the rim (the fender lip comes right down to the top of the rim. I cut the fender braces off at the headlight mount because when hitting a bump the tire contacted the brace. This combination puts the crown of the tire right in the middle of the fender (the highest point/most clearance). You can't go any lower and still drive the car. Frank
I did a 4" dropped axle, 14" tires, reversed spring eye and modified the front crossmember for an additional 1" drop. It turned out to be too low and I had to put a 1" spacer between the crossmember and spring.
