All I can say is that the number of cars that is too many is inversely proportionate to your age. :(

Actually, IMHO ... if you get past 2 or 3 HAMB topic vehicles ... you have too many. I have 2 finished 32 Fords ( a coupe and a roadster ) :D

I am slowly putting together a old beater, shop type truck. Keeping the two Deuces clean and ready ... keeps a old guy like myself busy. I enjoy the " HUNT " for parts and pieces for the old truck ... but I just cannot really get in high gear working on it. I am thinking of putting the roadster in storage for the winter ... something I have not done in 15 years or so. With the roadster put up and out of the way ... hopefully I can become more motivated on the truck.

    :)

  5. We have Eight total, all but one running and insured. Two are my daughters, but still in my name, if not possession. One (my avatar) is spoken for, for my son's 2 year old son. Two are my wife's, but she drives another one daily. So I really only have the non-op cabriolet and the coupe, both '29 Model As for myself. That is not at all too many for me. ...but I wish my unheated shop was bit warmer to work on them more.

Too many cars, in my opinion, is whenever they are deteriorating faster than you are able to fix them. That number depends on your climate, dry storage space, your energy level, time available to devote to your cars after family needs are met, and net available financial resources. The "not too many" number is something very personal, and some folks might argue that net deterioration of a person's collection is not anyone else's business.

Everybody tells me that I have too many. Well...everybody is wrong.

  20. 4 are resting in the garage. That number makes me happy.
My wife and I each have a daily driver but I dont count those, thy're just transportation.
Maybe one more could be squeezed in. I've always wanted a 409 Super Sport and she has always wanted another '58 Corvette like one we had back in the middle 60's.
I guess I'll never be content.

  25. Over 40 and counting. How many is too many? Well that depends on the day.
If everything is running fine and compliments are flying your way, you can't have too many.
On the other hand... if nothings going right and you can't make any progress on the Hot Rod because you're just trying to keep your daily driver functional and it's one thing after another.... some days you just wish you never laid eyes on a car.
Thankfully you take a break and wake up ready to get right back into it... What a great hobby!

well, collectively my family might have a few too many cars in the yard..
In the garage is my oldest brother's 41 plymouth,
    my 37 ford pickup,
    older brother's '57 bel-air,
    girlfriend's 69 roadrunner
and a 71? firbird that my dad is painting..
In the driveway is my little brother's 54 bel-air,
    his 53 parts car,
my 37 parts pickup turned lawn art..
my dad's 47 ford ramp truck,
    two 68 camaro parts cars,
    a 68 camaro project car,
    my dad's 68 camaro driver,
my mom's 65 mustang fastback project car,
    my 77 jeep cj5,
    my older brother's 78 ford f150,
an 83? chevy 3/4 ton that'll eventually have a 57 pickup body on it,
    my sister in-law's triumph spitfire,
    my deceased grandfather's 67 ford f100
and for daily driver type cars we have a volvo wagon,
    pontiac grand am,
    olds bravada,
    buick park ave,
    and an 05 mustang gt

so, all in all, if I'm not forgetting anything and my calculations are correct that is 24 cars.. is that too many?

Complete cars, there are 5. But with all the parts and crap that goes with it feels like 7 or so.
