Your vin should look like this vb55f100101, or b55f100101, The V is for V-8, the B is2100 the F is Flint Mi. Assembly plant The starting numbers for 55 was 1001 than what ever order of production. Flint is just one of the assembly plants there are ten. O for Oakland Ca., S for St. Louis Mo. and so on. Hope that helps Ron
I think on Danchuk's website they have any area to decipher you Vin to see what your car came with originally. I know for a fact their catalog has it.
The vin won't tell you what your car came with...it will tell you what series it is, whether it's a 6 or V8 car, and what plant it came from. And you can get the date if you look up what serial numbers were made each month. That's it. The body tag on the cowl will show the accessories that were factory installed, such as tinted glass, air conditioning, and a few others, as well as the factory colors of paint and the interior trim. But there's not really a lot of info on the old cars about what they had as original equipment.
Thanks Ron, this is what I was interested in because I was thinking there was something wrong I only had 10 digits, but it looks like it is ok, what plant is B, Mine is B55B would that be Burbank Ca? Thanks all.
