I have been cleaning up my shop office. My wife said it is a mess (see photos attached) and I had to agree. There are some real treasures amongst the years of dust and dirt. I started finding all these timing tags from the HAMB Drags. I have been to everyone. So far I have 17 timing tags but that does not seem like the right amount. I need to know if I should keep looking for more. Does anyone know exactly how many there were ? ?
Searching anyway. 2003 First Hamb Drags https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hamb-drags-1-were-you-there.1118953/ 2019 was known as the rain year https://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=42564 Year 2020 was the change to Spam Drags. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-2020-h-a-m-b-drags-canceled.1198935/#post-13654399 17 Total And I only got to be a spectator at one. I always thought that I would have more time and opportunity as I got older.......
Denise @hotrodladycrusr did at one time post her photo of a hamb drags banner. Does anyone know the year this banner was from? @WZ JUNK did sign this banner.
Wow, lots of folks signed this that I wouldn’t have known in 2004. My first HAMB Drags was 2006 and amazing how many folks here are good friends now.
The banner has waaaay to many people on it to be '03. I think there were only like 11 of us the first year. HRLC may be able to answer the riddle if you can get a hold of her. As for the plaques, I don't think Ryan started doing those until '04, but I could be totally full of shit. -Abone.
I know there was a year I did not take the old truck. Hooley and I had just return from Bonneville and we wanted to take the Studebaker and the Henry J. I hauled the Henry J gasser and Hooley the Studebaker. Those were the days. Rushing home from Bonneville, to go to the swap meet on Friday, and the HAMB Drags host hotel Friday night, then the drags on Saturday. I do not think my old body would be able to do it now.
I went 3 years, my name probably would not had been on the banners of any of those 3 years. I wasn't into signing much of anything back in those years. Three years (none consecutive), 3 different rides (all slow), probably only a dozen passes down the strip on the first two years, none on the last year. I was there, I participated, it was fun. Then life changed.
