How many miles did you put on your fun car(s) this year?

I'll start with my old truck. It just got normal use this year, hauling garbage to the dump, buying building supplies, hauling home an occasional engine or tools or parts. Ended up with right around 1000 miles more on the clock this year than it started with.

Next up is Plan II. No Drag Week for this this year, but it did get a different adventure--Death Week. Also went to the Duct Tape Drags. That brought the total to 3220 miles this year. Not bad!

But the mileage king is the new Corvette. I got it in May, and on the road in June. Getting things sorted out took a lot of driving, then my son and I went East for Drag Week. Then more miles sorting out things that needed to be fixed, before taking it with my wife on Power Tour West. All said and done, that's 9546 miles!

  2. I can’t say as I kept track but a ton, the Fargo and Chrysler are all I drive in the summer including close to a 100 miles a day round trip to work.

We put about 2000 on the New Yorker, and the only mileage on the Model A was pushing it in and out of the shop to sweep the floor.

27292.jpeg This gets driven pretty much 7 days a week...but the odometer broke awhile back but I figure its around 15,000 a year.

Hard to compete with you squirrel. I Was low this year I’d guess a 1000 on each vehicle. The pickup gets driven around 50 a week and I’ve driven the coupe on two 500 mile trips this summer. Spent most of my time on the boat fishing.

I put 1100 miles on my Schwinn continental 10 speed this year, does that count?

Over the last 11years I’ve averaged about 6400 miles a year. Driven through 30 states and attended events in 18 of them. :D

All Clarence got this year was on and off of trailers going to different shops for different parts of the project.

HOWEVER, I'm supposed to get it back in the next couple of weeks, fully finished, and ready to rack up the miles. You all will probably get really tired of me posting about it and the travels in it.

The original speedometer/odometer broke about 30 years ago so I have no idea how many miles I put on it up to now. It will have a working speedo/odo so I'll know from now on. It'll also have a working gas gauge (the original broke almost 50 years ago) so I won't have to rely on a two gallon gas can in the back in lieu of a gas gauge.

Before it got torn down for what was originally only to be floor replacement (that turned into a 5 year rebuild) it had been to Bonneville 3 times, NSRA Nationals about 10-15 times, BTT50's once, NSRA mini-nats in York and Pueblo once each, Springfield mini-nats many times, SK-500 many times, hamb drags 11 times, the first 11 Americruises, one Hot Rod Hundred, and scores (hundreds???) of local shows/runs. Not to mention driving it just for the fun of it. With relatives in Chicago, NW Arkansas, and east Tennessee it's been to those places numerous times.

It looks like Squirrell put around 14,xxx miles on his 3 and I plan to put more than that on Clarence this year.
I'll let you know in a year whether I was successful or not.

  12. After redoing the front brakes, front end and correcting some steering geometry (starting in May and wrapping it up in July) I managed a hefty 71 miles before I moved 1300 miles and left the car behind. Hopefully it will be here in Colorado shortly so I can try my hand at tuning it for high altitude rather than sea level.

I logged a bit over 1000 miles in my avatar truck and 600 in my coupe. Enjoyed every mile and they always returned me safely home.

Wish I had more miles, but the rainy summer here caused a number of events to be cancelled.

I haven’t been able to calculate the SPM (smiles per mile)but guessing it’s right up there. :D

  14. Probably about five miles total. Only got it running in February. And it had a lot of stuff left to make roadworthy after I put the engine in.....still has a few things to be fully roadworthy. So mainly drove around the shops property and yard driven at home. In the next year the number will drastically go up lol IMG_2023-10-21-11-38-14-632.jpg

  15. I took two fairly long trips.
The first was early July, home to Toronto, then to Syracuse with a large group of Canadian Rodder friends. Several days of cruising the finger lakes region, then home.
In September, home to Gatlinburg for vacation, then to ONSI in Winston Salem then home.
    6,600 miles for the year.

  16. According to math of up the front street, down the front street, back up the front street and back down the front street, down the side street and back up the side street, it calculates to one mile !
Small victories really really late in the year, I'll take it.

  17. I would like to say a lot but I've been a slacker this year, I would think less than 3000 miles combined on both the Ranch Wagon and the old beater. HRP

  18. Well, dang, Jim. I was feeling kinda proud of mine and myself. Congratulations.
4600+ on the Buick to Port Orchard , WA to visit my brother. Took in the BCA Nationals in Spokane on the way. Visited Sis just south of Missoula on the way back. Another 2100 in shorter trips, mostly in OK and TX.
    Good year.

I’m embarrassed to admit how little I drove old cars this year. I bet it was less than 3000 miles or so all added together. I’m going to try harder in 2024.

Been driving the Chevy quite a bit since we don't have any snow (or salt on roads)
Maybe 1500 miles this year with all the shows and swaps
And I drove the roadster a few hundred miles. . . . Wishing for more but every mile was exhilarating 5288.jpeg 13852.jpeg

Mine are all blown apart except the Produce Truck. I bet I didn't put 2500 on it this year. My odometer is on the fritz, so I don't really know.

Without adding it up, I'm sure I put between 6-8000 miles on mine. Round trips from Greensboro to Myrtle Beach, Nashville, Columbus, Louisville, Raleigh plus other "local" cruise ins and just cruisin' put me in that range without looking at the odos.
