I don't keep track of the odometer or the GPS, it wasn't a big year for cruisin' but I'd figure maybe 500 miles or so as I stayed local due to cost of fuel and doing stuff around the house...not house jail as I enjoyed it really...all trouble free with no issues other than tinkering with the carbs to find a sweet spot...

Many of you sure really clock up the miles...if you can...why not...it's good for the heart...

I didn't keep track of miles for the year, but I did do 500 miles in December alone. Ready for some miles this year. 29EED92B-A155-4CF5-8B9D-63E5B830D5D1.jpg

Pretty light year for me. A tik over 2000 miles on my 53 and 3100 on my OT Suburban.

I used to keep detailed logs of mileage, now I drive and do annuals on all my stuff and oil changes before major road trips. Banger car I sold mid way through the year. Probably 2k miles by July.

    8.jpg

Then Bought this, have been slowly dialing it in. Maybe have 500-1k on it now.

    34-22.jpg

And old Trusty.... Fixed some small things that had bothered me for years. I maybe have 3-5k on her this year, way down from my 10 -15k years but I am spreading my driving out over a few vehicles now instead of her being the main primary and I did not do a huge road trip with her either this last year.

Sadly only about 300 miles last summer. But I thoroughly enjoyed all the miles. Hoping for more next year. IMG_5035.jpeg

I’m really wanting to toss the family into one of mine and do a long haul trip thanks to you guys!!! I’m a firm believer in driving the wheels off of your hot rod and enjoy all the hard work. But to do that and see the country is nothing but a win win situation especially the memories and friends that you make while on your way.

Which brings me to wonder…….how many points do you think they would add or take off if I drove across country to Pebble Beach Concourse de Elegance in the Woody instead of trailering it there this year :D

I only put on around 500 miles total with my 3 hobby cars in the 2023 season. I'm hoping to get out more in 2024, going to sell off another hobby car in 2024 as they are just sitting in the garage.

    LOL!!!

After Pebble Beach I can’t do anything else with the car other than take it to Barrett Jackson or drive it, it’s won everything it can win but Pebble Beach. Since it was dad’s second true love (mom was first of course) I really don’t want to sell it.

Sounds to me like a road trip in the car is just what you need. Bring along a few spare parts, have fun!

After seeing this thread yesterday I had to check mine. Put 4964 on my coupe (avatar) and 2462 on the 53 Dodge shop truck.

  14. My odometer shit the bed several years ago, so I can't be certain, but my insurance limits me to 2,500 miles a year, so I think I put on... 2,476....yeah, that's it...2.476 miles last year, and will probably add about that many in 2024.

Drive it there, don’t wash it, drive it home, that’s what I’d do.

I’ve driven mine about 20 yards off the trailer into the garage as it’s not registered yet. But it has travelled from Kansas City to Norfolk, Virginia, got on a boat, sailed across the Atlantic to Southampton England then trailered on to Worcester. I had a quick google to see how far that was and Squirrel still went further!

I usually put about 2500 miles on my fun cars. But last year I put much more on my '39 Chevy since it's the latest build so I drove it more than usually do. I think I got close to 3500 miles on it?

Yep I can see it now….. my dad wouldn’t just flip in his grave but come out and beat me silly for taking a 998 point show car out for a tour de country :D
I always teased my dad about if and when he clocked out that he wouldn’t be cold yet before I cut 3” out of the top to make it more proportionate. The shoebox woodies always had a Herman Munster forehead o_O So maybe he won’t be too terribly upset with me if I drive it after I take it to the big show :)

He's gone now, so you can do what you want, he'll never know.

I think the best thing you can do with any old car is get it on the road. Isn't that why they exist, in the first place?

2600 on the '57, mostly back and forth to work, although the speedometer isn't real accurate so not sure how that translates to the odometer. This set of tires is finally getting used-up enough to not feel bad swapping them out soon, they weren't intended for this car but I had to use them before they got too old.

And about 12 miles total on the T before breaking the rearend drag racing.

    Sorry Dad!
998 point show car and it still hasn't won there? Are you holding out driving your car in the hope the other guys in your class get a chip in the paint or something before next years show? These things are beyond my understanding.

I can't think of a better reason to just drive the wheels off of it! Those people are obviously too picky! They simply don't understand that cars were made to drive.

I drove my Coupe 3,200 miles this year, and my Chevy II Wagon 8,600 miles, they are my only cars I have to drive.

  26. First time I've seen a Dodge pickup like that. That is nice.

I understand trying to honour your dad's memory and intentions with the car, but in my mind the memories and adventures of a cross country road trip in the car would far outweigh any points loss at Pebble Beach from actually using my own car. Let's not forget these cars we treasure were made to be driven and enjoyed.

Load up the family and go!

If I manage to drive it to the mail box and back that will be more than it has gone in the past 20 years. With this dislocated shoulder, broken bone in my arm and who knows how much else in that spot messed up I am not going to get a lot done until the middle of the summer.

Last summer I was chasing issues on my 46 GMC most of the year so it didn't go far from home and used my 62 Bel Air and OT custom cars a bit here and there.

This year I've got a newborn, so I'm not sure how things will go.
