  1. Jealous of somebody who tossed 80 grand so easily? How does that OLD saying go? A fool and his money are soon parted. Hell, I've spent more time pondering an $80 purchase.

  2. Whether you got fucked or not is not up to me. All I can say is I bought a 62 Bel Air recently for $4800, a far cry from $80,000. I probably spent 2 weeks asking questions, pouring over pics of it, thinking about it, etc. I'm certain I bugged the shit out of the owner who was probably thinking "it's 50 plus years old, and under 5 grand, what do you expect?". I thought long and hard about buying it, and when I did there were no surprises. It was exactly what I thought it was and even after spending that much time looking at it I was still nervous about the money spent. At 80 grand, I would have spent a WHOLE lot of time looking it over, thinking about it, researching, etc. Sometimes you have to help yourself.

  6. 80,000 dollars!! And you begged him for 4 hours!! You wore him down, and got what ya wanted ! He got you out of his face and about 4 times what the car as worth....sounds like a win win to me! Get this crap off here

Send it my way for another 80 I can make it nice for ya.

  7. $80,000 and you decided to strip, prime and repaint. you found some metal work that needs to be done, find a craftsman in your area to fix it right. what could that cost $5000? so your budget is blown 5%. really? stop crying, this ain't T-ball.

$80K ? And it needed to be taken apart for a frame off? Hmmmm. Something is not right with this story. As others have said $80k + $20K for a frame off refresh would have just about built a nice car with all new parts and labor.
I guess that is why some people get $150K in an average build!

im not gonna be a keyboard warrior and tell you how bad you messed up and how i wish i had your money.... ive been in your shoes... i had to convince a guy to sell an OT truck i wanted really bad.. took me days.. and of course he knew how bad i wanted it.. so obviously i paid out the nose.. and i was so excited to finally own this old ford truck that my eyes were galzed over so much i couldnt see all the flaws that were so well hidden.. its human nature to not think about the BIG picture, but to focus on the little one..
its a shame you had to convince the guy to sell it...and for him to feed you a line of BS is shitty, but that is a typical salesman... its as bad as craigslist users sometimes....
and 80 grand is alot, but if it wasnt exactly what i wanted, id be tearing it down too and making it mine.. but i woulda just started from scratch for the money...

all and all......it is what it is, fix it and drive it.. it will never hold up in court. there was no written contract of no bondo and no patches.. thats the game of people trying to make a buck on old cars and not carring about the next owner... id rather over price a pile o shit car that i love and dont wanna sell, then let the buyer know whats wrong with it.. if he still wants to pay that.. then he must love it more than me..

When the ratio of money to brains exceeds 1.00:1.00 bad things begin to happen. Ask the Wall Street guys.

You spent $80K on a donor car? Like "Wow I really love the way they built that car. I can't wait to get it home and deconstruct it."

Not even the guys on Fast and Loud do that. Is this the plot of a new TV reality show?
