Wow, your lucky, I can only go about 75 miles on a 16 gallon tank of gas. 4.88 gears are a bummer until you need to get on the loud pedal hard.

My old '48 Chevy had P/S, P/B, tilt, 6-way power seats, heater, insulation, P/windows, 400-watt stereo, electric wipers, etc. etc. etc. Long trips (500 miles+ in one shot) were a breeze. Most comfortable rod I've owned.

The Essex has windows that go up and down, and a comfortable seat. It had a radio when I got it but I pulled it out. It will eventually get a heater, but that's about it for creature comforts.

The new T touring project will have no creature comforts at all with the exception of a comfy seat.

There are some very interesting observations here, seperated by the younger vs. the older crowd, and the rodders vs. the custom clan.

I am sure I put it in here earlier, but I have heat and power steering. No power brakes, and now, no radio.

That will change though, with power disc brakes, a good radio, and maybe A/C.

I spent 10 years running back and forth across the country as a truck driver. I am all about my being comfortable, and the quality of my ride, even if my car never gets further than the state line. I would have to have something really bitchin', or small, to not have some of the comforts.

All I have in the '54 is an Ipod hook up, I've got to have music in the daily driver. I am thinking about A/C though.
The model A will have no creature comforts at all.

Maybe it was all that tough guy shit from years ago that's made you the ripped and hard (OK, broken and mushy) driving machine that you currently are.

Added lots of comfort items this time around, speedometer, electric wipers and turn signals.

  14. In the Sinister, it depends on what time, of day it is. Heat on a hot day, ac on the cold ones. No windows,(except the windshield) no horn, no stereo,(just loud ass exhaust) no wipers, no power anything, all manual even the turn signals. Comfy seats, strong motor, brake lights, taillights, headlights, and a wife that loves it, with no complaints! What more could you ask for? Just an old ride to have fun and haul ass! [IMG]

My sound system is a pair of Smitty's and I just hooked up the heater.
Last night with the temps in the high 30's (I'm up in the mountains of Alabama for the weekend) I sure was glad for the heater!

I agree! I like what I like, you buy the car and you can yank the heater if you want! My '34 has no windows or interior -- just a windshield, big block, and sidepipes -- and I like it that way. However, one day I hope to 'modernize' my '52 F1 into an original painted, IFS suspended, slightly lowered, steel-wheeled, power-steered and braked, air-conditioned and heated, mild-camed, daily driver. That I can comfortably drive anywhere I want.

That is when my rich uncle gets out of the the poor house!

no power except under the hood no heat my air is a fan that clamps under the dash and plugs into the lighter ( it's Mississippi ) the door windows roll down but the quarter windows are fixed lexan. I took the am fm cd out I couldn't here it over the pipes anyway, it does have wipers no speedo no gas gauge rides like a lumber wagon. It's lots of fun on them short 1/4 mile cruises. At 61 and I drove it to Baton Rough from near the Alabama border in Mississippi and back last winter with 4.57 gears on the interstate but it does have a t-5. I do seem to be driving my loaded turbo diesel Dodge more lately maybe it's time for a sled or custom?

I guess I'm one of the old guy's. I like to be comfortable. I used a Crown Vic clip in my 64 F100, and the 4.6, I transfered the A/C with the built in heater. When I got the truck the heater core leaked so I bypassed it. It also had a $29.95 stereo from Wal-mart all wired in with old Lamp cord. When its finished (soon) it will be a pleasure to drive

My '36 Ford pickup has a single wiper, no heat, no air, no radio, no PS, no PB, no door glass but does have an old school bus fan to de-fog the windshield.

My '49 Chevy pickup has IFS, PS, PB, heat/defrost/air, tilt, cruise, radio w/CD.

The '49 is tucked in for the winter but I'm still driven' the '36 every chance I get.
