Man I can turn around in mine and I'm lost. I loss a lot of stuff then find it years later...That's the truth too!!

  2. Pickup as in electronic ignition component or as in pickup truck? I could lose either in my garage. I may yet come across entire vehicles I forgot I had.

  3. Really, there ARE gremlins in my garage! No REALLY! I've never actually seen one because they are really stealthy but occasionally I catch sight of one out of the corner of my eye. They hide my tools, hardware and once they even hid a NOS ignition switch for 3 years! I've tried to catch them in the act but they are cunning little bastards.

A guy I know insisted that someone went into his garage and stole ONE Weiand Y block valve cover. I asked him why anyone with enough knowledge to even want to steal Y block valve covers would run out the door with half a pair, but he was adamant. A few months later I went to Carlisle and actually found a single Weiand valve cover for him, which he bought from me. Guess what he found under a pile of junk in the back of his '57 Ranchero a few weeks later?

i was helping a friend clean out his shop last year, and it was packed in so bad at the time you couldnt walk around in it, so we started cleaning out so he can pull cars in again, and i found a complete 8ba under piles of stuff that he forgot about, i told him if he also wants to forget about me finding it ill borrow the forklift real quick and put it in the bed of my truck :)

Happens to me all the time--age may play a part but still have "lost things' only to find them way later after I have already replaced the item and the car is long gone. Found a mint 40 dash cluster with all senders that had disappeared for many years-I guess I put it under a bed in a seldom used bedroom so it wouldn't get lost.

  8. Not exactly losing things, but my toolbox is possessed by some evil bastad demon..my screwdriver drawer will magically change all screwdrivers into Phillips heads when I open it to get a flathead. Then, when I go for a Phillips, the bastad changes them all to flats.. Someday I'm gonna catch that sumbitch...he's probably the same demon that steals/hides all my tapes/rulers/straghtedges/pencils,etc. Spend half my time huntin' things

I haven't lost many parts, but I did lose the spare charger for my B&D 18V cordless drill. It's been gone for a couple of years now. :(

Changing a brake line, removed the horse shoe clip and it went flying, thought I find it when I get the new line in, Spent an hour and didn't find it, doug threw a pile of junk and found another one. After cleaning up I pulled my light from the frame, guess where I found the clip, stuck to the magnet. It happens all the time????????????

ALWAYS find exactly what you are NOT looking for, ESpecially when you go looking for a Phillips head screwdriver, all you can find is straight blade and when you try to find that straight blade you set down a few minutes earlier..??? it has morphed into a phillips head.

oops, turbo beat me to it.

Its a simple matter of having too many parts. :p

If you are continually losing parts, you need to give away some of them! ;)

A couple of years ago, when we finally got all of the carburetors on a computer inventory, I found a 55 gallon barrel full of pretty desirable musclecar carbs that I had put away 30 years ago, and hadn't seen since! :(

The carbs are all now inventoried, and yes, I CAN find any one that I own.

But I don't have enough years left to inventory all of the parts. Let the estate auctioneer do it! :D

Well I looked again for it today. Still no luck although I did find some Channel locks and a 9/16 wrench that had been missing for a while, I also found my full set of 35 gauges that I misplaced. Also found a shifter mechanism from a 50 Chevy that's been missing for 4 years. I did find another equalizer shaft that belonged to the 40 pickup I bought a couple of months back so at least I don't have to buy another.

I always thought they morphed into the things you find that you have absolutely no clue what they are!

In my dads shop there is a particular corner with a dirt floor and a work bench. Both of us have lost so many things there ball bearings, lock nuts, etc. We always joke around when you drop somthing overthere saying "well now thats gone forever."

That "safe" place I put things so I won't lose them is what gets me every time. Usually the only way I ever find any of the stuff I 'lose' is to ask the wife; she zones in on whatever 'it' is right off the bat!

  22. I work in my garage every available weekend that I have off.
It's 1200 sf of floor space.
Not overly large but big enough to loose something in.
I "misplace" something once or twice a day. It's tough to admit it but I think I'm loosing my mind.
Yesterday it was a box of nails then later it was a lag screw.
The day before it was my 1/2 inch combo wrench and some external lock washers.
My 15/16 inch deep 3/8 socket has been missing for a couple of months now.
It must have rolled away somewhere..............I hate forgetfulness.

I have a new 28 X 48 Shop. Moving all my tools and stuff from my basement over to the shop. I have found 16 tape measures where before there were only two. I'll be damned if I can find my Plasma Cutter. Somehow I do not find this a fair trade on the part of the garage gremlins???????

Packrats! Got one of those little noctournal bastards free with a car one time. Hid everything he could carry under a cabinet, mostly receipts and an old sandcast finned aluminum fuel pump blockoff plate.

Sounds like my yellow lab, she doesn't eat parts, just collects them. Frustrating until I found her hiding place.
