History How many of you remember the HIGH & MIGHTY???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Deuces, Aug 20, 2010.

  1. It's a "recreation" by the "Original Ramchargers." FYI most of us back in the day thought it was gray primer as most of the magazines were in black and white.

I remember seeing it in HOT ROD back in the early 1960's. Always looked like Ed Roth T shirt artwork in real life. Thanks for answering the first thought that I had about the original post, is it the original or a clone. Sure is nice that someone took the time to recreate a milestone car for younger people to see. :)

I once asked them how they came up with those pipes. When they were building it one of them had a motorcycle (i think it was a Norton) whose cylinder was the same size as the hemi. they kept making different size pipes and shapes for it until they produced the most hp and then made eight of them for the H&M.
What i didn't see in the pics is the tach, it hung from the rear view mirror and is about 8" square. They would 'borrow' it from the mopar dyno room, it was the tach off the dyno bench, and return it on monday morning. its' huge with an arrow drawn for the shift point.
The car was so radical that the rule book was changed to limit the changes and some of the rules are still in the book, like crankshaft height etc.
