I'd have to say overall environmental Jason. Factors limiting survival in relation to carrying capacity, competitive interactions between hatchery supplemented and naturally produced salmon. That sort of thing.
    Very not car related :)

Ichthyology was a first love of mine, of sorts... I still keep a 120 gallon tank of natives... madtoms and darters are a favorite! But I let 'em go in the spring, and always get more. One man's weeds is another man's flowers. :)

    I also frequent http://www.nativefish.org/

I know, it's not very car related either... but it sure is cool feeding a tank full of bluegills a handful of worms! Vicious little bastards! :)

I drove an oxygen truck for 2 years, used to throw a 160lb H cylinder over my shoulder and carry it 3 flights of stairs. Not as bad as hauling a hospital bed up and then go back 2 weeks later to retrieve it. It had to quit that job or I would have ended up in the looney bin. They told me when i started the average hire date to quit of a driver was a year, I lasted 2.

  9. I'm a control room operator at a nuclear power plant, 12 hr. shifts, not a lot of job satisfaction but very secure, Our company supplys 25% of all the electricity to Ontario. I've been doing this for about 8 years , before that I was a farmer, now there's a change!

Home remodeling, things are still stable here in Alabama, as long as you're not selling your house, then you have to give it away! The same applies to old tin these days it seems. Hang tight peeps, they promise everythings going to be alright after next Tuesday, Ha, Ha!

  11. I have worked on ships as a mechanic most of my life. I'm about to start a part time job at Advanced Auto Parts to make a few extra bucks.

This is NOT fair - nobody told me I had to have a job to be here. Bummer - guess I'll have to get me an adult paper route and check back as entry number 12497 on this thread.

Butcher in a meat/seafood market..people gotta eat..although sales of ribeyes and Halibut are down of course. People are into hamburger, chicken and fishsticks right now till things straighten out..my store has been in business since 1917 and just a few weeks ago finally got around to handing out a 10% discount to employees, pretty good deal considering the economy..I used to be part owner in an automobile salvage yard and for three years was a partner in an automobile restoration shop..this job has better(medical) benefits...

  23. Registered Nurse but it was a long strange 25 year trip to get here.....I graduated from Vocational School and did my Tool & Die Apprenticeship up to Journeyman. In my spare time I went and became a certified Harley Service tech through their PHD program.

After getting bored I went back to school and received a degree as a Quality Engineer. After working for a few larger companies I saw the writing on the wall once again and I went back to night school again for some "science classes" (actually prerequisites for nursing). While working as a Quality Analyst for a LARGE medical manufacturerer they decided to head to Mexico.....NAFTA kicked in, I bankrolled my very nice severance and took my night school classes to the Cleveland Clinic and became an RN.

Now when I'm bored I switch departments around instead of careers....So far I have done Cardiac Intensive Care, Intensive care, ER and most recently Surgery. I do like the blood and trauma, but it also feels good to know you helped someone out at the end of your day. Somethings you just keep to yourself.....human beings can be worse than a rabid pitball sometimes, just ask any ER Doc/Nurse/Cop.

  24. Railroad industry. I sometimes wish my job was directly related to cars though.

business is booming when the economy goes down.

  26. Intellectual disability sevices officer.( i.e.'carer')
That means I tend to the living needs of 3 or 4 people in a residential setting. Seven day fortnight ( love that)- money not outtasight but secure with plenty of o/t available. Naturally challenging- more rewarding for me than dead- end production work. Clean crim record, senior first aid ticket, some interviews and away you go..

  27. I cant believe how many nurses there are on the board, you guys need to get a mans job!
PS, I found out today I was accepted into medical school to study medicine, too bad I have to pass it up. Dang jobless bum and I would have to change states.
    Doc.

  28. I own a 61Caddy (and other goodies). Only Surveyed for the last 30 years and been using Autocad since verison 2.52. Have my own Surveying Business here in Virginia.

Use to do the POB stuff back when it was RPLS.com. That forum has it's good and bad. I lurk over their every 3 months are so, just to see how the rest of the industry is holding up. Don't see me posting their.

Good luck, the industry is really limping.

I'm a Environmental engineer/legal advisor for a large computer company in Silicone Valley. On Sunday I was painting a car in the driveway and a cop walked up and started reading me the riot act on VOC's and toxic fumes... I told him I knew the laws showed him the city ordinances, and watched him walk away with his tail between his legs. I Love My Job!:)
