I know Leroy too and there should be an advertisement for vice grips made from his shop. One engine that hangs from the vicegrip is a complete IH V8. The end link of the chain is clamped to an I-beam by the jaws of a vicegrip with the engine on the other end of the chain. I often find myself sitting under it when I visit! It's been there for at least ten years. I think the vicegrip is the best tool ever invented. I have 30+.

At least 11, but I could use more every now and then. It's like C clamps, you never have quite enough sometimes.

I could match you grip for grip.......................and sometimes there isn't enough for a job. No brag just reality for a busy fabrication shop.

At first I was only thinking maybe 5 in my rolling toolbox but after thinking harder and the different styles and where they are at(welding table) i've got 15 to 20 of them. Your right, not enough for fab work. Need more.

Some of the ones I almost forgot about were the one in each dodge rams or jeep cherokees to hold the gas shocks back door open. I also have one that locks my roll up garage door between my heated shop to my cold storage side.

Don't ask me about how many screwdrivers.[IMG]

92 at work and 6 at home.
bought over the last 25 years.
the oldest(petersen) pairs are the best after just replacing the springs in them 6 months ago.

When I was a kid the only tool I had was a pair of vise grips. Ever nut and bolt on my bicycle was rounded off, and I would get so mad because thats all I had to work with.
But I was always able to do anything I needed with them.
I always figured thats how all gearheads got started in life.:D

  13. Was on a trip with the wife in Gatlinburg, hammered the throttle in her o/t corvette ragtop. Threw the serpintine. Walked to wally world and bought a 3 pack of vise grips to fix the car, so that added 3 to the 17 or so i already had.... for now

I have about 30 to 40 different sizes for the situations I need them for when welding .

seems at least 2 pair of every design ever made, best welding helpers as they don't talk, always on time and you don't have to sleep with it after it f'ed something up and you cussed it out.

I have no idea how many pairs I have! I've got the big C clamp vice grips, plus duckbills, and all sorts of specialty vice grips, beyond the variety of sizes in regular vice grips. Never use them on bolts, but use the heck out of them for fab work.

Should that count include the pair that has been holding the exhaust pipe flange together on the daily driver for a year now?

Probably have 2 dozen or so. Don't buy new ones since the suits bought up a viable American company and moved production to Slaveville. Bastards. All the old ones work great!
