I gave brady1929 a hard time for being under average for having 2 project cars ( all in good fun). It got me thinking how many projects do you guys have? I have 1 running driving and 2 big projects.

Half....that is, get it driving, and then work on it some more.

Currently I have one running, two projects getting worked on, and about six more to work on if I ever finish the first two.

I have two running and one major project right now. Both of the running ones are also somewhat projects I suppose.

    5. One I should leave alone, one I can't leave alone, 1 I should be working on, I that fixes all the mistakes I made on the one I should be working on but never got to the point of knowledge I did it wrong, 2 random trucks and a rust free parts car

Hamb friendly projects I have two and maybe three if you call the T body parts as a project.
Not Hamb friendly, too many but that list is going to get shorter real soon. I've got a sailboat that is looking for young entergetic and agile people to take it out and play as soon as I get it cleaned up.
The plan is to have the pile of parts for the 48 looking like a truck by fall. It may look like a truck that needs a lot of finish welding but I'd like to have it all in one piece and running.
Too many projects comes to play when there is no time or financial way you will ever finish them in your lifetime. I've got a buddy who has a hord of what used to be real nice and extremely desirable project cars that have probably gone to hell in a hand basket because he would rather hord than build or sell to pay for building the best of the lot.

  14. I'm including the running driver cars in as projects because they still need service or something, I have 10 (4 full drivers). I think it also depends on how old you are, what type of project (full build or semi build) and what you're starting with (rusted body only or completed clean). I get them when I can find them in my $$ range, collect parts the same way and then squirrel them away. I'm planning for the future after retirement (= less $$ coming in) and a hopeful move to a bigger shop (with a small house). I know I can't take them with me, as I don't plan to, I like the build, I'll have my fun, drive them a little and the sell them off. If I don't make it or can't make it, I'll sell them as is.

interesting....instead of telling him how many he needs, everyone is telling him how many they have. As if that were the perfect number.

    Good point.
    So take your age.
Count what you have or want.
Be realistic in how long it will take to get one done.
No worries, you won’t slow down as you get older;)

Will you live long enough to see them through?

    I won’t ! :)

One project car in every spot in my 3 bay shop. The ''finished'' one lives in its own room.

To answer the title question - one in every bay of your shop, at least one in the yard and 2 or 3 motorcycles in various stages of assembly. Also a store room full of parts for cars you don't even own. Your friend's wife may be on him to get the car you're hiding at his place outta there...

How do you guys get anything done? I can only focus on 1 at a time. I've got 3 friends with multiple projects, but nothing done. They don't have a single cool car to drive to any event, or anywhere. Been that way for decades for all of them. Not how I want to live. You do you.

  20. Just have as many as you want to.

LOL I guess the best number would be however many cars you can store at the same time. When you run out of room and friends garages then it’s the number :D:D

One driver, one neighborhood driver, one running, three non running, and wondering if I could squeeze three more in without the city being the wiser! My favorite junkyard is scrapping out and I have thought about a ‘ 55 Buick Special 2dr sedan and two 4dr parts cars to go with it! Damn the insanity!

My coupe (avatar) and my '53 Dodge pu are both running and driving. I'm trying to get the '40 running and driving and the becoming a work in progress, but then again it seems like they're all a work in progress.

One road worthy, one in the process of paint, 2 idle projects, one long term project. Sold the third idle project a few months ago. Now in the process of finding one to replace the one I sold.

They Are All Projects Even When I Can Drive Them Down For More Parts...(4)... 322353390_927447448435125_6987353190215268369_n.jpg

One is enough. I took on another OT project four years ago, and it was too overwhelming including looking after 3 daily drivers. Got rid of it two years ago. Not sure how folks manage so much and still live a balanced life.
