I was just wondering if I am the only hamber that has a problem with trying to work on more than one project at a time. Currently I have a 31 Model A sedan & a 34 Ford truck. The truck is getting the most attention at the moment but I am always on the lookout for parts for the sedan. Give me your input on how you prefer to build your projects, 1,2,,or even 3 at a time.

Well, I'm only working on one at the moment, and that is building a new powerplant for the 37 Buick. But waiting in line are the interior of my 56 New Yorker, a rework of a 40 Cadillac, 31 Ford Coupe, 64 Dodge, and also need to put a new motor and trans in my 1986 El Camino hauler. Oh, and I need to paint my Harley tank and fenders and put it back together. And my 1951 John Deere needs a couple bearings replaced in the transmission. And my wife wants me to put new cabinets in the kitchen, so that will likely be the next project. And she would like me to redo one of the bathrooms, and put another one in the basement by the family room. And I need to mow the lawn.........

I have 3 projects but I'm not working on any of them right now. I do have 1 in my garage just incase I get a wild hair and my slump wears off.

  5. I have the gas tank pulled out of my '66 caddy for a new sending unit and the '64 Imperial is on jack stands waiting for a new driveshaft carrier bearing. Also have two gas pumps in primer waiting for paint, and two more pumps that I'm in the middle of a teardown.

  6. 3 of 'em. the '60 just went out to the in-laws to free up some space for some chassis fab on the Unibody...then finishing the underhood detailing on the 'Bird

One at a time. The frame for my 33 truck is begging for attention, but life's necessities are getting in the way at the moment. :)

one at a time untill i get frustrated and move on. currently building a vw sandrail for glamis and dumont dunes. then i have my '31 model a all blown apart, then waiting, i have a boat, atc's, volksrod, olds powered buggy, motorcycles, etc.

  10. It's hard to get a handle on allocating the money for 2 or 3 at a time, but it sure is a nice change to switch projects after a milestone.

At least it helps me look forward to working on them all, even if I get burnt on one for a while.

I'm only 20 and I've got more projects than you can shake a stick at. I've got my 52 Ford custom that I've been working on/driving the hell out of since I was 16. I've also got a nailhead and a few random parts I'm savin for a hot rod someday, a beeza chopper in the works that's in several thousand peices, and late-bobber/early-chopper-ish sportster that I ride too much to get anything done. I guess it's better to be addicted to this stuff than drugs...right?

  13. Yep i have too many projects, but only working on three/ four at the moment. Having the space to have a couple at a time is good when you crack the sits at one you can got to another (normally while waiting to find out from the hamb or boys how to fix something or waiting for parts).
    1) The main project is tearing apart my 53 chev pickup so as i can repair all of the chassis rust and sort out the mechanicals. before repairing the rust in the spare cab thats going on and putting it back together for wiring etc

    2) Making mounting brackets for the oil tank, and seat for my rigid evo project. Also searching for parts.

    3) Trying to find doors and a cowl in my collection to suit a sedan back section to make a sedoupe- on a t bucket chassis.

    4) Taking the front end out of my 53 chev sedan to put in my 54 chev chassis so as to get a rolling chassis. So i can get that all ready to go under either the 54 or the 53 body- Both bodies are badly rusted and need alot of work.

    5) this actually comes before all the car and bike projects which is making scrap metal sculptures for people on commission- all wanted around chritsmas- not the best when doing fly in fly out work so away for two weeks at a time.

Apart from these i have about 8 other projects for one-day , Which include another sedoupe (vauxhall), 2x inter pickups, 50's bedford "kustom" coe tow truck, austin pickup, humber super snipe, bedford ramp truck and a few modifieds.

2, ones headed to the body shop in 3 weeks and the other is so off-topic here, and so back burner I haven't even transfered the title. Limited space and a new baby take priority over multiple project cars.

  23. most all of mine are projects - most run and drive - had about 26 of 30 at one time running driving - two were with out motors and two I just hadn't got to...the A was beating me a little so it's nice to switch of to a motor bike or through a little attention back on one that's been waiting...after a couple of sales this week to justify buying another - yes dear - not a running car - I'll be back in the fixit mode. Never have bought to many runners - except at the dealership....

another project - kinda keeps me going....and I like them all.....

I am not a multi-tasker. I can only concentrate on one car at a time. My problem is trying to work on several areas of a car at the same time. Thats what happened with my galaxie. Instead of starting one project and finishing it, I tore a bunch of shit apart and got overwhelmed. I've learned to do it one step at a time. Yeah, but I have two projects 'cause there never really "done"

Was casting pistons till last thursday.
Install wire wheels on the front of my rail.
    Finsh my other FED

  27. I have 3 on the go, 4 more waiting in the wings. I usually like to have 2 or 3 on the go, I find it easier to keep going if I can walk away from one and work on another for a while, as well as staying busy while waiting for parts, letting paint dry, etc. Also on any day I can do whatever kind of work I'm in the mood for. Some days I want to weld and fabricate so I work on the Henry J, some days I want to paint, so I work on the Apache, some days I want to wrench, so one of the others gets my attention. I'm a young retiree(51) and couldn't do it this way if I worked and only had my spare time.

To many! '65 Ranchero, 2 OT projects/repairs, and a shop/garage to finish organizing. That's not counting the many projects the house and I create. My family says I'm a typical guy. I can't multi-task and I've got numerous projects goin', none of 'em complete. Heavy Sigh! Focus! I need focus!

I have 3 on the go right now...

    1. My new shop build. Yeah, it's not a car, but without the shop I can't work on my real projects. The shop is almost done, just finishing up the inside now with insulation & OSB walls.

    2. My '27 Essex. Once the shop is done the Essex comes home and will be getting a complete drivetrain swap, plus a bunch of smaller changes.

    3. My '26 T Touring. When the Essex is done I'll drag the T home and start working on it.
