Replaced the sender unit in my daily driver a few weeks ago after driving on the trip meter for 6 months. Fill the tank, don't forget to knock the trip meter back to 0000, when it gets to 300 (K) fill 'er up again!

Worst one I ever had was a 57 VW. Didn't have a working guage, but had a 'reserve' on the tank. Drive till you run dry, then kick the reserve lever over on the floor, and you've got a 'spare' gallon to get you to a servo. I don't know how many time I ran out of gas only to find the 'reserve' lever was already on the wrong side!

    Cheers, Glen

Anyone have to dig in the seats for loose change? I've had to do that once or twice. Paying with pennies ****s, but what the hell, I got home.

    JUST THIS DAMNED MORNING!!!

This time it's number four since I bought my 51 Chevy last year. Gauge don't work, speedo/odometer don't work and I think my vent tube might be clogged somehow cus when I go to top it off the air doesn't displace and fools me into thinking I have more gas in my tank than I really do. Seems worse since I lowered the rear end a little lower than the front.

With all the responses to this thread I feel a little less of a dumb ***!
