  2. Uh...is that 496 cubic inches or CC's? Hell no that Camaro trans won't survive! I have one behind a Chevy 348, at best 350 HP and I drive it like an old lady so I don't break it. You need one of those serious units from Keisler. A friend has one thats rated good to 600 ft-lbs in a Cobra.

496 will turn that T-5 into a pile of broken parts.

The Camaro unit was only rated about 240 lb/ft of torque. The bad *** aftermarket unit for the mustangs was 330 lb/ft. You need a serious aftermarket 5 speed or a really well built muncie. Is OD your main interest? I bought a M21 from Auto Gear with .86 4th gear and 1 to 1 in 3rd. They wouldn't tell me what it's rated for, but when I asked about 450 hp and similar torque, they said I need not worry.

    from spring tx.

a doug nash/richmond 4+1 5 speed is not an overdrive trans.5 gear is still 1:1.that trans has a really low first.it is designed to use a high rearend gear, but still be able to get off the line.richmond makes a new 5-speed that has an overdrive in 5th,but it is $3600.00.unless you are very lucky,i don't think that is what you have.

    It's pretty funny...
When I read the ***le, the first thought in my mind was "As long as it isn't from a 3rd Gen Camaro"...
