Well I now have my 36 back on the road again, I have just registered it under Historic Vehicle registration after joining a local Car restorers club.....................BUT this club is really cool;)
These guys aknowledge dropped axles, finned heads and juice brakes as "Period correct" accessories and my 36 is old school complete with 39 flathead where some restorers shudder at these modifications these guys are happy to see it on the road. At the end of the day my 36 was parked up for four years because I couldn't justify/afford the costs.

Here in NSW Australia I currently have my wifes Mazda6 rego just under $600 per year, my 1956 FJ utility about the same plus add the insurance for each on top it gets a bit costly. But the Historic Vehicle rego is only $96 per year. and for that fee I can drive it to recognised club based events, swap meets etc. plus I'm allowed short tune up/servicing runs close to my home. Plus I'm meeting with guys from a different part of the car scene, I've made no secret of my liking toward modified cars and for the most they accept it. Having said that they looked at my chopped utility and said you know that it would never be allowed on a club run and I accept that (be a bit like taking a Camaro to a Mustang gathering)

So my 36's wheels are where they belong "back on the street" just out of interest how much does it cost you guys to register a car in your respective countries???

Costs $25/year here in South Carolina for my '40 Ford with personalized plate (4DFORD), plus 18 bucks personal property tax.

  6. $86 for two years with regular plates or $96 for life if you want the special vehicle or antique vehicle plates with "restricted mileage". I put it in quotes because the cops around here have more important things to do then pull you over just for driving safely with the wrong plate

  7. South Dakota is around $35 per vehicle yearly ;)
