  9. Keep in mind that a lot of drag strip scales aren't too accurate.

    High capacity scales like those designed to weigh trucks aren't particularly accurate in the low ranges.

    Imo, the best way to weigh our fairly lightweight cars is one corner at a time on a 1000# balance scale with the other three wheels on a block that duplicates the height of the scale platform - which keeps the car level.

    Better as well to weigh the car sans driver.

    Kerry's car seems to be heavy for its weight . . . if that makes sense.

    Hemi = 150# extra.
    Blower etc. = 100# extra.
    Yanking Kerry out of the drivers seat = -170#.
    Parallel leafs + overly heavy front tires = 100#.
    Too much fuel in the tank = 70#.

    Which . . . makes it right at 3000# almost touching on the 2900# range and 2900# is about right for a coupe running the street.

    Coupe body compared to a roadster = 200#, but not figuring it into the math.

    Fwiw - a typical 32 highboy roadster with the ever popular 350-350-9" weighs in at 2300# with big slicks on the back.

    My 32 with extra poundage due to top and roll bar weighs 2400#.

    All roadster figures sans driver.

    '31 Tudor, 3 1/2" chop, A ch***is, dropped axle, Currie 9", 327/350, no fenders... yet. 2150 with fuel, without me. I add another 210 lbs and if I were ever mentally challenged enough to let my ex-wife in it it should come in around 4800 lbs!

    Ya ,it is pretty lite i guess ,but i want it under 2k just so i can say it is.There are a few things that i am gunna throw overboard on it that should help ,since its only 60 pounds away .There is a big dumb*** double awhoooga horn on the firewall ,plus it has a small reciever hitch and support (like im ever gunna haul trailers with it) ,and theres no need to have a full race harness and mounts on the p***enger side (since i will be racing alone when i do) .Proly wont make much difference on E.T.,but i have no use for these items anyway .So they are gone..

    Since you asked for sedans too: 31 Tudor SBC/turbo 350 9" rear = 2440 lbs with me (200 lbs.) and a full tank of fuel (80 lbs.) So, 2160 lbs. dry

    That what it weighed on two different occasions on the digital scale we have at work so the semi trucks don't head out overloaded.

    Yeah you probably can't go wrong with an old coupe. Especially if it gets influenced by the same things that are responsible for the ranchero.
