how much would a 49 plymouth 2 door coupe special deluxe cost. It is only the frame and the body, no interior/panels, no motor, no inner fenders, no title. I want to get rid of my car but im not sure how much i should sell it for.
Sounds like a parts-car to me. And not even a complete one. Without seeing pics, I think you can find COMPLETE 49-52 Plymouths in the $500 range pretty frequently out here in Cali. So, I'd say that would be a starting point. What engine is it set up for? Stock 6? Any work been done to the car? How's the chassis/suspension?
The thing is, i have a lot of parts for the car, but its not on it. I have the plydo motor mounts and tranny mounts for a chevy 350, i have the rack and pinion mount for it, i have a 57-59 for 9 for it (should bolt right up), i have custom springs for it, lowers the back three inches and the front 2 inches, i have the outer skin for the rockers, i have a 66 malibu bench seat for it, a 350 chevy sb, a th350, i have some more little parts for it.
Looks like a good car to start with. If you got all that stuff, then why not just build the car? Find another car you've gotta have??? To sell it you might be better off selling all that stuff seperate. I know it'll be more of a pain in the ass, but you might have better luck that way. There's enough guys on here who have these cars that you could probably unload the parts easily enough. I, for one, might be interested in the springs and the steering kit. If you send Glendale a PM, he might take the motor mounts and tranny mounts off your hands. He was just on here asking for advice on putting a SBC in his 51 Plymouth. I would think you could sell a Ford 9" and SBC, and even the bench seat pretty much anywhere in the world. So, that stuff should move quick. Then you're left with the car itself. And if you got it cheap, like you say in your profile, then you should be able to get out of it what you've got in it...
i just took a bigger bite than i could chew when i bought this car as a first project for me, since i dont have any experience with domestic cars/restoring them.
