We are going to paint a 31 chevy 2dr sedan the primer is black and the color will be purple .Is one gallon enough for the body and fenders?
Alot depends on the type of gun being used. The newer hvlp guns don't waste nearly as much as the older guns that blew most of it into the air. But a gallon should do it IMO. Don
It depends on the paint .I used someones second line paint trying to save money. (Don't want to give the brand as they all have a second line economy paint) I found out latter that this grade of paint didn't have as much pigment in it and it did not cover very well. I had to go back and buy another gallon to finish the job. I wont do that again and I recomend you buy top line paint for your project whatever your brand choice ppg, dupont, dittzler or what get the top line.....
IMO a gallon will be more than enough to paint the outside of the car, if you are painting under the fenders, inside the cabin, etc. a single gallon probably won't quite do it.
A gallon will be more than enough, but don't get any less. I'd rather have a little extra than to try to match another batch.
My 40 pickup is going to use 2 gal. by the time it's done. We still need to paint the running boards, rear fenders and bed and have used 1 1/2 gal so far. One step in yellow.
