i was just curious as to how much work other folks in other areas have.
any kinda work on old cars.
restos, restomods, hotrods, ratrods, race cars, classics, customs....whatever.

what are y'all workin on & how much of it?
what are y'all seein guys spend??

    why am i asking?
yesterday i gave a guy an estimate on re-assembling his 56 truck that just came out of paint. it's missing everything but the windshield & has been apart for a while. it's goin back with all repop shit.
to see if he was a player & to push the envelope a little i shot him a little high. which is way high.
he didn't blink & agreed on the deal. i have the truck now & am waiting on a o/t cuda now. supposedly gonna be worth 100k. that one is gonna be high.lol.
    so... i'm just curious...mel

My lil shop pretty much specializes in 40-56 Ford trucks of all sizes. Ive done up to F800's including fire engines.
Everybody and his useless brother in law is in the street rod or resto business around here and its cut throat. I found a niche and get good money.

With a NH state unemployment of 3.9 % and MA not much worse there is money available to spend on toys.

  4. There are two shops in Jonesboro; Darwin's Hot Rod Shop and Roger's Rod and Custom. They both do good work. And both shops are covered up.

  6. I don't run my own shop, I am the sole employee of an older couple, at a "street rod" shop. Our counter sales have gone to hell, but I am BURIED in shop work, from piece work to turn keys. Annoying thing is- it seems like every body who wants work done gripes about the cost. I pretty much tell them all to fuck off, this is how I feed my family, if they don't like the price I don't want to hear about it. Maybe I work on the wrong price bracket of cars. They're all under $75k or so, most under $50k.

Dad's pretty well covered up here...it's taken him 5 years to get that way, folks in this area weren't used to paying for the quality of work we turn out. (Not boasting by saying that, you should see what we were up against)

Less super high end stuff, lots of traditional "blue collar" stuff, mostly A roadsters on our frames, roughly 25K turnkey minus paint. Some odds and ends work, but trying hard to focus on complete cars, less hassle.

Depends on how good you are here!
I know lots of guys scrambling for work.
I am to the point where I have to chase off customers with a body hammer!
Probably have a 2 year wait to bring a car in. Doing it part time (???? about 25-30 hours per week)
