Just got a Model A engine( block, crank, flywheel and bellhousing) @ 250 lbs today! Shipped by Fastenal from their store in NY to their store inAZ for $150. They told me two weeks and it was to the day. They say so long as there is NO RUSH they can ship it. TWO Thumbs UP Fastenal. John

I bought my Y block from Tim McMaster last summer and when I looked into shipping found that it would have been around $1000 to get it from Visalia California up to me here in Edmonton.

In reality it would have been more.

I took a few days and drove down, met Tim and carried it home in my truck. Total cost was around $1500 and I had a nice holiday, met a great engine builder and nice guy as well as visiting the shop he hangs out at, the Boling Bros shop in Tulare.

Made the return trip from Tulare California to Edmonton in 2 days. :)

All in all a great road trip.

Had a 354 Hemi shipped from NJ to the Detroit area last year for $200. Engines Direct. No problems and on time.

It cost me $400.00 to get a short block shipped to a pick-up location. Almost as much as the engine cost. But that was from South Carolina to Texas.

200 - 500 if you have the time and the ride to get the motor that's what I would do

You can go on line to Fastenal and fill out the form and they will give you a price. Must know H,L,W and weight. I just went to my store and told them what i needed and the guy i got it from strapped it on an old pallet and dropped it off for me at his Fastenal! DONE!

  11. Fastenal is probably the best choice when shipping an engine:

But any transport involving transfer risks damage
when the transfer occurs ... ;)

Direct shipping from pick up to drop off with no transfer in an
enclosed trailer is your best best.

I transport engines .... and other parts along specific routes
    anchored by confirmed vehicle transport.

I keep a thread showing my parts transport schedule here:
