How Much Would Cutting The Top Off Of A Car Effect It's Value?

  1. You can go here: http://www.danchuk.com and find EVERYTHING you need to buy to turn any Tri-Five Chevy into a convertable.

    The easiest conversion would be to do a Hard Top...

    The LEAST cost effective conversion would be to do a SEDAN...

    The MOST cost effective one would be to do a four door... but you will have to do A LOT of work.

    They even sell the convertable X member to weld into your frame... the top bows, inner quarter panels... everything. There is a "how to" floating around the net somewhere, and I saw an article in a Chevy Magazine... I'll see if I can't dig that up for you.

    You know how to drill out spot welds, right? Better get that MIG warmed up! :D

    One more thing... Don't cut that car of yours up... please... find a four door or a clapped out 2dr hard top...

    Don't the convertables use the longer hardtop doors? You have the short sedan doors. When the top is off the porportions will be off, unless you use hardtop doors and move the door pillar. If you try this,[ and I hope you're not that dumb] at least don't come back here crying about needing help to fix your F&$*&d up 55. Saw a really clean 57 Chevy in a scrap yard about 25 years ago that someone tried to make a convertable. The sight still haunts me!
