Took the body off the Buick today and got a better look at our customers Ebay find. No welds on the lower brackets only one bolt. Torgue arm front mount is a classic as well as the front motor mount crossmember. Advertised as a daily, with 350 Chevy. Well its a 283 and I wouldn't drive it. Posted for today's chuckle, Laugh with us. Ted
Amazing what some people pass off as quality work. I would be embarassed to sell something like that, let alone drive it.
No telling how much of that kind of junk is going down the road everyday. It is a danger to the driver, and everyone else on the road.
It's scary that someone actually paid money for that work. I mean, he bought the car didn't he? I built a good quality car and can't get anyone interested in spending money on it... Uh, some people, sheesh. r
What a cobbled up mess. Good thing you're getting to it when you did. I feel safer on the road knowing it's gonna get done right before it makes it back to the streets.
Well, I did the best that I could. I only had a rock and a piece of string when I built that car. What do you mean 283, I thought all small blocks came from Corvettes and were 350's............OK just kidding. I am glad to see that they are getting the car fixed and safe. Good luck with the "redo"
I think you'll see more and more cobbled up cars passed off as drivers because it's a lot easier to sell a driver than a cobbled up car in the first place, and when nothing much is selling, people get desperate. I had a '38 Buick years ago I ended up reselling and the guy who bought it told me later the rearend fell out of it when they brought it home. I was glad I flipped it -
hey most people only cars about what u see from the curb and the price thats just a fact if they get people rubber neckin there ride and it was cheap they by it! thats why u get this type of work. he found some one cheap to do it.
It's shit like that give this hobby a bad name, it is scarry to say the least when someone is building a car that is going to be driving on the road and they built the car like it was a model they are going to put on their shelf. their are to many people out there that have no buisness even changing a tire let alone building a car!
Is that a 80's F-body rear-end pasted into an old Buick frame? Who ever slapped that together needs to be slapped. Marty McFly
I had to read this three times. It's put together about as good as the car above. That chassis would be classy over on the other site. Everyone is a "fabricator" these days.
Everything about this car was the same as what you see. Complete heater assm. out of a late model stuck under the dash with the late model controls wired under the steering column. I quit counting at 37 skulls on this car, even a moulded clear plastic skull dome light. The lower rad hose is 39 inches long with the chrome wrap on it. Battery is in front of the rad. blocking it. I wish I had the ad to show you guys as this guy is selling other cars. Buyer beware. It looks as we will be putting it on an S 10 chassis just as an easy way to help out the customer. He's so deep in this car that he has to go forward. (I don't think you could go backwards). Keep laughing. Ted
Buyer's rule of thumb: The more skulls decorating the car, the faster you should walk away. A 39 inch radiator hose? I didn't know they came that long.
Wow, it is amazing what kind of scary stuff you can find when working on someone elses project. All these pics make me think of how the rearend was bolted into my 53 chevy (it is now getting 4 linked) and the hokey motor mounts in it too. (getting replaced also)
Another heap that would have otherwise found it's way to the scrapper. Kudos for making it right and putting it back on the road.....safely.
When we put this car on the lift for the first time, the few of us that were at the shop almost had heart failure looking at all the stuff that was done to this car. We are glad that we are getting to make it right!
Others have said it - soon many "barn find" cars will be abortions from the rat rod phase, and you will be seeing a lot of them being rebuilt the way they should be... isn't this about the time when that guy from colorado chimes in to tell us all that this work is perfectly acceptable and we shouldn't be bashing someones work. . .
