depends on several things like is floor original and has firewall been cut etc but in general a "cage" 8 or 10 point 10.99 6 pt 11.99......... etc etc
New NHRA rules are 11.500 for a 6 point cage. I'm not sure what the IHRA wants, but they are more reasonable. David
I thought the idea was to beef up the motor until you leave posi marks on the asphault...then beef it some more. When you finally see posi marks on the uns you install the cage! Try MakoTenFive , somebody there will know for sure.
Hey Unk as long as you keep the shiney side up you don't need a cage. The rules vary quite a bit according to cl***. But you shouldn't need a cage in a 12 second car if it has a roof. I just got a new 2006 rule book, but another HAMBer donated a 2005 rule book that in general is about the same. send me your addy and I'll fire you off the '05 book.
Cage is 10.99... for a roll bar (6 point) its 11.99 NHRA and 11.49 IHRA. If its a convertable you need a bar if you are quicker than 13.99.
Thank you for a definitive answer, 32pu. What are the requirements for the roll bar? Any triangulation, or will a simple roll bar meet the rules?
(Thirdyfivepickup...) here is a link... it mentions 2003... but the specs haven't changed. http://www.nhra.com/contacts/tech_faq.html
I apologize. I spend too much time with Deuces on the mind. My fingers automatically typed 32 instead of 35. I'm sorry, and I thank you for the info and the link!
