how rare?? 3.54 open drive pickup rear

    3.54 ratio is a desireable ratio for early v8 rears but how rare is one for a 42-47 ford pickup open drive rear? before the experts say they are the same as a 37-48 car rear they are not. yes the center section and ring gear are the same but open drive pinions are tappered with a key way and not a spline that holds the yoke in place

    I'd say pretty rare, only thing I have ever seen is 4:11. The ford green parts book (28-48) does list a 3:54 for the 42-47 1/2 ton commercial.

    Not to derail the thread, but is it tapered with a nut the same as the pinion is on a model 'A'. I'm asking because i am doing a model 'a' conversion and that shaft might be a handy item.
