64/65 two dr wagons are rare, but one w/ a factory v8 4 spd, like finding a needle in a hens toothe.

Since this thread apparently will not die, did Willys Truck actually buy the car that started this conversation?

I know where one is, but it's not a 2dr wagon, it's a 2dr panel. It has a factory V8 and a floor shift, not sure if it was a 3- or 4-speed. It's either a '64 or '65, needs a front clip, but the rest of the body seemed solid when I saw it. It's in a junkyard off 380 between I-35 and I-75.

My late friend Pete had a 65 falcon 2dr sedan delivery that was in mint to great shape. BEFORE he painted it someone put a factory right side quarter panel on it . It had a 289 /c4 auto .I dont know what happened to the car after he p***ed .

They made so many of 'em that they have no value. Hence, you should p*** on it and tell me where it is...:D

I think they put 260s in '63 Falcons & also the '63 Comets. But they had 221 V8s in '62, I think they were in the Fairlanes and maybe the Mercury Meteors. I don't think the Falcons or Comets had V8s in '62.

If it's a 260 it has to be a 64 as 65's had 289's. That is if it's really a 64-5 square or wedge body, no a 63 round body.
6000 64 2 doors made and when you figure in a 260 and 4 spd (more likely a 3 speed) VERY rare

    No, actually it was 63

I think the center drag link will be too wide

?????? Really hope you were trying to be funny :D pretty sure people here would know the difference and there certainly weren't any factory V8 Pintos, alto ugh there should have been ;)

My wifes grandpaw has the car, he will not sell it, it will sit and rot. I can get pics of it next time I am over there. It does have 260 emblems on it.

Most of it will fit, have to mix and match some of the 61 stuff. Steering box will be a little different. That will give you 5 lug suspension too. 67 falcon suspension stuff will be like a 67 mustang. You can use the 8" rear too.

I was working in a ford dealership in 64/65 and we sold as many V8 4 speed falcons as mustangs, they were quick little cars, the 2 door wagons were rare perriod. Even more if it was a delivery sedan. The falcon guys should be all over you by now.

I've only ever seen maybe 2 or 3 of these in my lifetime and I've been into cars since the early 80's. I'd say they're extremely rare. Too bad that one is just sitting and rotting. Keep at it, maybe someday you'll get it?

I have a 62 and 65 2 dr wagon. They are not that common, but they show up now and then. Any with a factory 4 speed would be quite rare. They are cool rides. I get all kinds of comments form 'experts' on how I welded up the rear doors and made the inside garnish moldings. Go figure...........

Ist year was 63 1/2 for the 260 in a Falcon. They came out with the HIPO 289 Fairlanes, 427 Galaxie Fastbacks all around the same time.

I had a 62 Falcon 2 dr Wagon for a short time. I sold it to a guy in CA a couple years ago to help fund my Model A. I'll likely have another one some day. The only pictures I have of it are pretty poor.

Sounds like his is a '64 if it's badged "260". The '65s had 289s. Both years were pretty rare with just the 2 door. The V-8 made them moreso (20% of 2 door production perhaps). The V8/4 speed would probably make it a little rarer yet. Most of the 2 door wagons/sedan delivery vehicles were "service" type vehicles and had cheaper trim levels. Bell Telephone used them here in Ohio, but IIRC most were 6 cylinders.

I have had 3 '65 Falcon wagons, all V8s. I have a 2 door (auto), and a 4 door (auto). I HAD an uber rare 65 4 door Futura wagon with factory bucket seats, center console and air.

Detailed production numbers are non-existant I am told. One of the main reasons I cl***ified my bucket seat car as uber rare was the fact that many of the Falcon gurus discounted it's existance as they had NEVER seen one. Plus the fact that it was built on the Mustang production line.

I guess what may make his rare is the fact that most of them have turned to dust (rust)

    Hello,

Yes, cars with those combinations are rare. I own a 1962 Falcon four-door station wagon and Ranchero. They both have the six cylinder and a factory (Dagenham) four speed on the floor. The door tags show that the transmissions are factory. I believe that option came out half way into the 62 year. The 1963 models with V-8s used the Borg Warner four-speed transmission.

Can post pics if you would like.

    Take care,

    Tom

Most wagons are rare just because they weren't as popular. I have a friend who collects pre 65' wagons because he thinks he'll be sitting on a gold mine in the future????? Maybe, maybe not.

Not so. I have a factory 260 four speed 1963 Falcon Ranchero. A few web sites devoted to them in fact.

I had 2 63 Ranchero Deluxe 260 4spd cars, I did a little research and found the rough #'s on 260/4spd chero's was les than 150 in this configuration! I'm geussing that a 260 4spd wagon is even more rare!
