Hi guys...I have been a member here for a while now just reading and learning...
I am new to the rod world but have always been a car guy, mostly Corvettes...but I have always, since a young boy, loved the old coupes...

a few months back I bought a 30 Chevy (all steel and serial numbered) and while workin on her and making things the way I want them, I have come to realize that these must be kinda rare because its almost impossible to find body parts for like fenders etc...

I am hoping that you guys will inform me a little about this year Chevy and perhaps why I havent found pics or info about another one anywhere...
thanx guys....you have a great forum here :) Gary

For some reason people shy away from the old chevys. I think in part its due to the amount of wood that was originally used to hold the bodys together. Personally I like their lines better than fords.

Theres a few early chevy guys on here. I have a 32 truck Im slowly putting together. PBRmeASAP has probably one of the coolest early chevys on the hamb imho.

Rare? yea its a 77 year old car . Less popular ? definatly.....

I like it by the way. Nice ride.....

the body was nailed to a wood frame when the wood rotted it fell apart.i had to build a steel frame to weld the body to. but you can try bow tie reproduction at440-327-4800. they carried a lot of parts for my 29 chevy delivery

Hey man, although it probably doesn't really matter to you. I don't beleive that is a 30. I think all 30's were 3 windows, Yours is probably a 32 ........ Correct me someone.

    Nice car...but it's a '31, no 5-widows made in '30. '32's didn't have a visor above the windshield.

    thanx for the replies guys...
I'm not sure about the 3 window thing but I can tell you that the visor was hand made...
I have some really good build pictures...I will try to post them later today

Call me crazy - but why would you want fenders on that rod anyway? Looks like a beautiful car as is... I found an old dude pretty close to me that has a few early chevys rotting into the ground. I have to admit that while the lines are amazing, and I'm a self proclaimed bowtie guy, AND the fact that I really want an old coupe, the amount of wood is intimidating. The cars look like a stiff breeze would blow them over at the moment. When spring comes, I'll try to find out how much he wasnts for them, but damn, I imagine it would be like trying to move and rebuild a sandcastle.

I agree that the car looks great with no fenders...however...
The reason I want them is because this is my daily driver and all it takes is one puddle and the whole car is dirty! that ****s LOL
this car has had all of the wood removed and is solid as a rock :)

I am in the process of buying one right now. I still have to finalize everything but this one is coming with fenders that are in good condition. When I get it back home I will post some pics of it and contact you to see if you still want them. In my opinion I would not touch your car though. It looks really nice as it. Just carry a bottle of spot cleaner around in the car or don't worry about it at all. Looks like the car is too fast for you to worry about what people will see as you blow right past them.

    Thanks TxRat........

that's not a 30, they only made 3 windows as someone already said. does it still have the plate on the firewall? that would let you know what you really have?

the pix I posted before were before I bought it...
the guy gave me front fenders and I put them on...here are pix...
I think they look pretty cool...
I would like to find some gl*** rears and trim them kinda like Milner's coupe in American Graffiti...whis is pictured below...

also there was a bunch of tacky chrome on the engine which I removed most of and replaced with billit aluminum which can also be seen in the pix...

That looks to me to be a 31 , a 32 body has the swages in front of the windsheild and scallop shaped depressions on top of the cowl under the hood. The car has obviously been altered a lot especially around the base of the cowl. but 32 numbers were prefixed XHBA.
This is one my mother had ( 18,000miles...)

no on the serial number.....at one time there was a cowl tag on the cowl that would have had a number starting with 30..... and then the model number which would reference the body type. there were no 30 5 windows, 31 was the first year for a 5 window. I'm no expert, my dad is, can't get ahold of him right now, but he could shead some light on this.

as far as carnut......they have no clue, just donated pics.

looking again.....i'd guess a 31, but you also have a heavy modified body and some of the original lines have been modified or changed, but since your restoring it, who cares, ya got it registered and your having fun right?

heres mine, it will give you an idea of whats its suppose to look like, my car has orig sheet metal, other than being chopped. believe it or not my car has all the wood in it except for the front of the roof area, your lower reviels are missing, or smoothed out. the original visor is beautiful on these cars. u have to find one, it makes the car. you have a 31 there, everybody is right on the 30 being a 3 window, and 32 windshield is round at the top corners. have fun

there isn't a big difference, in 31 to 32, although they won't work with a 31 hood with 32 fenders or vis versa.......

    what shape are they in?????

now thats a beautiful car! I'm sorry...help me out here...I want to learn...lower reviels?
well...i guess it's looking like I have a 31...? does everybody agree on that?
I like the original visor a lot too but, hey...it's a rod and I actually like the visor the guy made for this car too...
so...did the 31's have a steel frame in the body instead of wood?

also...can I see some more pix of your car jammer? from some other angles?
    thanx!

If you just want rear fenders you are going to bob and such, check out the local boating store or tractor supply. Some of them sell replacement boat trailer fenders (steel, galvanized) that would look to be the right size and shape to start with. Just an idea.

I like the fact that you got rid of that stupid back window ... but I liked it without the tiny front fenders. Maybe they are too flat und un-curvacious like the motorcycle fenders or something. But it is still abad *** little Chevy.
